Rochester Institute of Technology, Robert Morris rack up victories at ISBPA Fall Classic

The Rochester Institute of Technology men's and Robert Morris College women's bowling teams conquered Kegel's 39-foot Winding Road Sport Bowling oil pattern en route to first-place honors at the Illinois State BPA Fall Classic at 4 Seasons Bowling Center in Freeport, Ill., Oct. 25-26.

Robert Morris-Gold simply dominated the women's team competition. The Eagles shot 4,612 during Saturday's five-game qualifying round and added 2,830 during Sunday's 16 Baker games to finish with 7,442, placing the squad 420 above Robert Morris-Maroon's second-place 7,022. UW-Whitewater-Purple (6,924) was third while Illinois State University (6,922) and Elmhurst College (6,911) finished in fourth and fifth, respectively.

The Robert Morris pattern of domination continued in the women's individual race, where Mindi Miller, Heather D'Errico and Sarah Klinesmith finished one-two-three with respective five-game totals of 997, 968 and 960. Western Illinois' Beckie Laye (924) and UW-Whitewater-Purple's Erin Bault (922) rounded out the women's top five.

In men's team competition, Rochester shot 3,236 during Baker play to erase a 70-pin qualifying deficit and defeat second place Saginaw Valley State University-A, 7,996-7,748. Michigan State University-Green (7,694), Northern Illinois University (7,683) and Western Illinois University (7,677) also cracked the top five.

Robert Morris-Maroon's Ben Plourde-Bechtikal captured the men's individual crown by shooting 1,077, leaving Robert Morris-Gold's Chris Bardol (1,066) in second place. Rochester's Dan Vick (1,059) placed third while Northern Illinois' Mike Marchak (1,046) and Saginaw Valley State-A's Joe Steiner (1,029) settled for fourth and fifth, respectively.
