I am wanting to get a new ball that is going to be similar to my mission 2.0. I have to say that I love this ball and actually thought of buying another one lol .... either way I am wanting to try something other than ebonite and since the local house pro shop is normally the only one open when i get off all they carry is ebonite. Its nothing against ebonite but I want to try roto grip and dv8 but wonder what balls would be close or better than the mission 2.o. So please give me a few suggestions if ya have any... thanks a lot

I'm not sure why you want another ball that performs in the same manner as your Mission 2.0, but I think the Roto Grip hybrid cell from bowlingball.com would meet that request.

In my opinion, I prefer balls that fit specific conditions, and depending on how your local shot breaks down, I would recommend a ball that is either stronger or weaker. Stronger if you get a lot of oil carry down, weaker if the lanes dry up quickly. This will allow you to stay in the same lane area during the entire match.

What adjustments do you make during league? Also, what do you quantify as better? Do you want a bigger hook or more controllable ball? I'm not sure how much you have used your Mission, but it might need a reviving if you have bowled over 50 games with it. Removing the old oil will help create a bigger hook.

I agree with Jimlc2001 ...i just learned myself that you really dont want to have balls that are similar because of the breakdown. The mission 2.0 is a pearl reactive bowling ball which means generally used for medium to dry lane conditions. If you want something similar from a different company i would say take a look at a storm frantic or like jim said the roto grip hybrid cell ..i personally also like a couple of Motiv products. You should also take a look at ball reaction videos on youtube (dont get caught up in the strike after strike look how the ball hooks thing ). Do research and make sure you dont pick out a solid if your looking for a pearl you will see 2 different reactions (trust me i learned the hard way) lol

for me if you want a Dry lane condition ball, go for the DV8 Misfit. and if you want something stronger than the Misfit, go for the Reckless or Too Reckless.. Something more, DV8 Marauder and if you want strong hooks, Definitely the Hell Raiser Revenge. Personally I'm using DV8 balls.. So far, it works pretty well with me.. :)

The Mission 2.0 was designed for heavy oil conditions with a perfect scale rating of 208. Far from a dry lane ball. The closest DV8 in matching up would be the Hell Raiser Terror. Like the Mission 2.0 it has an asymmetrical core, made for heavy oil, reactive resin coverstock. The Mission 2.0 is sanded while the Terror is heavy polish. The polish allows it to go smoother through the heads and retain energy for the backend. This is why the Terror has a more angular break point than the Mission with a perfect scale rating of 225. So theoretically, with this ball you would have to play a little deeper. The DV8 Reckless would probably react very similar (maybe too similar) even though is was designed for medium-heavy oil, symmetrical core and reactive resin cover with a polished finished it still has a pretty angular hook.

So basicly if I have a mission 2.0 and like it keep it but its pointless to buy another ball similiar... honestly I do not know why I didnt think of that my own lol ... Some times i just jump too far ahead without thinking... So with that being said I am throwing the freeze and the mission 2.0 I use the freeze when the lanes are drying up somewhat or just move left with the mission... Is there anything I need to add to my arsenal or am I pretty much set for a lil bit? Thanks for all the help

The DV8 Marauder would fit nicely between your two balls.
Difference between a pearl and solid? The particles used to make the cover stock. The lines between what these covers can do are getting blurred as companies are putting more and more aggressive cores in these balls. When you look a ball up on www.bowlingball.com the description will tell you what lane condition it was designed for along with the perfect scale. 200 and up=heavy, 180-200 medium to medium-heavy, 140 and bellow= drier with spare balls rated a 5.
