Went to the soon-to-be-closing lanes for dollar-a-game night, newly drilled Defiant in hand last night. I expected a ball that hooked - hooked a LOT. Even with that I did not expect what I found. I have the ball set up pin down and 4 x 4 x 1 for mid-lane read and a strong back-end reaction and boy-o-boy did I get it. This ball is a monster! This set up makes it the most aggressive ball in my arsenal and it out-hooks everything I own, but in a highly predictable and controllable fashion. I can see that this ball needs to play in the oil, though. If it gets to the dry boards on the outside too soon it stands up too soon.

There were some folks watching me as I practiced with this beast and they made several comments about the big-time back end reaction.

I would love to see what this ball would do with a pin-up layout...

I ahve a defiant. Pin is just above and to the right of my ring finger. Has a hole drilled in the side as well for extra hook. I dont get to use it on heavy oil as it is intended. it doesnt have as much back end as I'd like in the dry summer months, but I really like the ball. Once fall leagues start and the oil is put down properly the ball will get the conditions it needs.

How do you get a 1' pin buffer pin down? A 1" pin buffer is about a 15 degree val angle and with a 4" pin to pap would be pin up unless you have a HUGE span

You know, I mis-spoke. I wanted the ball pin-down, but my pro said it would not be possible due to the short pin buffer. The pin is actually next to my ring finger, giving me the equivalent of about 3/4 ounce finger weight. There is also an x-hole at the top of the P3...
