Hi all. I was wondering if there is anything special about an after market spare ball I.e plastic ball vs a house ball. Right now I just use a house ball for my spares. is that ok?? I really want to upgrade my equipment but I think i'm gonna hold off on the spare ball untill I update my bag.. Hope a house ball is perfectly fine.

Fit is the only real issue. Some people, me included, have a problem going from finger tip to conventional grips.

Agreed fit and going from finger tip to conventional grips Are the main issues.

If you use fingertip grip for your first ball, you should probably get one drilled fingertip for spares. I switched from conventional to fingertip fairly recently, and for me it would be hard to go back and forth.

I have seen house balls that are drilled fingertip though. If you can find a house ball with the same kind of grip as your strike ball you could just go with that.

I kinda like the conventional grip for single pin spares. Feels like I can let em go straight as and arrow. I never knew fingertip players have their plastic spare ball fingertiped.. I think I might go conventional I really have never had a problem or even thought of it bothering me to switch fingertip to conventional.

If it feels right ....do it. The only reason we all suggest staying with a fingertip is for the sake of consistency. If you can make the change back and forth then just go with the conventional.
