Our league starts up this sunday. We have our 4 man team already. Emphasis on man. Got a call from the league director today telling me it's mandatory coed, can't have a team of all males or females. This means that we have to drop at least one person. My idea is to get everyone together and just find out who has the best options for getting picked up by another team and wish them the best. The other option is that me and my best friend break off and have our SO's join us leaving the other 2 guys to fend for themselves.

I've been over all the papers and this hasn't been mentioned once in any of them. Its a crumby thing to have dropped on you last minute, but that's life. Am I handling things in the right way or is there a better way to deal with this?

easy. 4 guys rotated 3 spots.

joe
scott
mike
ben
meg

this weeks you bowl with joe scott mike and meg, ben is off. next week joe is off, the following week scott ect. the girl plays every week because she has to.

That is a great plan. I'll talk it over and see if it flys.

no reason it shouldn't. your only taking ever 4th week off with the rotation, and you still get to bowl with the people you want. plus it makes it easier if someone has something come up whether its an emergency, a family event, or a vacation or something. you have an extra player on the roster to fill in as opposed to hoping to find a sub or bowling with a blind

thats not a bad idea also help cut the league dues in half...only problem is if your guys dont like missing league ...like if they want to bowl every week

it's once a month they take a week off. my friends had a team (brothers, cousin, and 2 other guys) then all the parents/uncles had another team. 5 man teams, both had multiple guys have to miss last season for various medical reasons, so they combined and had a 7 man roster with 6 regulars, and did the same thing, rotating weeks off. worked just fine for them, and they are all 190 or higher averages who all want to play every week

Another possibility is to have the low score sit out the next game. We did it back with 6 bowlers for a five man team and made sure that no one sat out more than one game.

not a bad idea i guess. assuming all the guys have averages that are somewhat comparable.

As long as it is a handicap league, it doesn't matter that much if the averages are close. The important thing is that everyone gets to bowl at least two games. No one I know wants to come and bowl only one game.

Rotating rosters have been around for years and they do work out very well. I'd rather sit out 1 week every 4 than to come down and only shoot 2 games. See what the others say and go by a consensus vote. If one person doesn't like the scheme, then you're back down to just 3 guys and a chick ! Problem solved.

I want to know how you found a female to bowl. I have no problem finding males but play havoc every year finding enough females for our mixed league. This year we have 4 women who have NEVER bowled before. They're good looking, young ladies so I don't mind seeing all the gutters on the lanes near me lol

Always. Keeps the bowling balls out of it.

Sports psychologist? They wouldn't care because it's good for my game. A clinical psychologist would just give up, like the rest. On the plus side, thoughts are not illegal or degrading to the other person so I'm good to go.

if thoughts were illegal or degrading I'd be on death row with many a woman hating me

As Beefcake the Mighty wisely said. "There are women inside, and sometimes outside. So go to those two places."
