Hello

my span currently seems to have been drilled perfectly if I measure by the halfway between two knuckles line test, not counting inserts. Overall it's a short span because I'm not a tall guy. I was thinking the power lift inserts might help with that, and give more pitch to help with that. But I do have a little bit of comfort problems. I wonder if I should go with oval inserts? Do power lift inserts help if I'm not planning on grabbing or lifting up on the ball during the release?

Hello

You should include the inserts, your actual span is from the gripping edge's.

How tall you are doesn't really have bearing on your span, it's your hand size and it's flexibility.

I was thinking the power lift inserts might help with that, and give more pitch to help with that.
Help with what?

But I do have a little bit of comfort problems.
What type comfort problems?

I wonder if I should go with oval inserts?
Yes go with Oval, Most people have oval shaped fingers not round. Ovals would give a better fit.

Again Help with what?

Powerlifts add about 1/4 forward pitch to the fingers. If you all ready forward or reverse pitch in the holes they will change it. Also Changing pitches can increase and decrease axis tilt and axis rotation.

"Changing linear pitches can have a drastic effect on tilt, and possibly even rev rate."
"Reducing the influence of the ring finger in the release (more reverse/less forward), or increasing the influence of the middle finger (less reverse/more forward), increases tilt. Increasing the influence of the ring finger (less reverse/more forward), or reducing the influence of the middle finger (more reverse/less forward), reduces tilt."

My hands are average I suppose, the span/hand length just seems small compared to a lot of other balls I see online. Now, COUNTING the power lifts, the span is a wee bit long. I mean a wee tiny bit, the span is so comfortable I've wondered if it was too short but I suppose that's a sign of a good span?

The comfort problem started out with knuckles hurting going in and out of the finger inserts. I grinded them/sanded them on the sides and now the discomfort is mainly on the right side of the middle finger. Though that is for one ball, it hurts on my other two balls but I imagine it's just raw/sore still.

So I'm wondering, maybe there is too much space now?

How will the forward pitch affect axis tilt/rotation? I'm assuming everything was basically neutral pitch.

Basically I was asking if the power lifts will help with revolutions which is why I got them to begin with. I thought at the time I was suppose to hit up on the ball (really lift with the finger pads) instead of just letting go/delivering the ball to the lane. So now that I've learned not to hit up on the ball, I'm not sure if they're useful or not.

Don't worry about how big the other guys Johnson is.
When it comes to spans as long as yours fits and is comfortable, that's the one that matters.

The grips were too small to begin with. Rubbing on the side of the finger is a sign of Excessive Left or Right Pitch and/or Holes or Inserts Too Tight.

I'm not up on the full effects of the forward/reverse finger pitches, But the main thing by adjusting pitches is to have equal pressure on the finger pads.

Perhaps that is my problem then. Maybe time to go back to ovals. I'm not going to hit up on the ball anymore anyway.
