If the world of bowling only had a few more Ted Baers…

In the first year of business at Thunder Alley in Omaha, Nebraska – the beautiful, modern bowling facility has played host to a pair of Lumber Liquidators PBA Tour events and last season’s NCAA Women’s Championship.

Ted Baer, pro bowler, president of the ownership group that conceived, built and now operates Thunder Alley talks about bowling in the Pepsi Viper Championships. “Everybody that thinks they are a scratch player should bowl in a PBA Tour event, it would be a real eye opener,” said Baer, who received the Commissioner’s exemption to compete.

Baer, who did not qualify for the latter stages of the Pepsi Viper Championship as a competitor, is well-known for his involvement in promoting bowling regionally and locally around these parts. His 40-lane bowling center is an amazing sports and entertainment facility

Inside the front entrance to Thunder Alley is a wide open, warm, bright atrium with plenty of things to get your attention as you make your way to the bowling lanes. I like a bowling center you can land a Cessna in. Thunder Alley features 86,000 square feet of pure entertainment and fun.

The Main Street Arcade has a lot to offer including Brunswick Virtual Bowling, Space Quest Laser Tag, air hockey and skee ball – loads of room to wind up and enjoy some friendly competition. The game room has all of the latest driving machines and video games, including Deal or No Deal, plus a great prize redemption area. Need more tokens? Twisterz Restaurant is an attractive eatery featuring a fireplace and pool tables, along with good views of multiple flat screen televisions to catch up with your favorite sports team. The centerpiece is the Partridge Family Bus video display which houses two large screen video projection displays; you will not miss a play as you tear into the signature Twisterz Pepper Burger. Pepper Jack cheese and deep-fried jalapeno slices, giddyup!

After lunch, put on your racing gloves and head to Thunder Road – a full-sized indoor extreme go-kart track. Up to six racers can scream along at speeds up to 20 miles per hour.

If you find yourself in Omaha, plan a visit to Thunder Alley – grab a bite, take a spin around Thunder Road and bowl a 3-game set. Then, look up Ted Baer and thank him for his enthusiastic support for the sport of bowling. I did – I had a blast.
