Overview
The Primal Scream cover and core combination creates more friction
friction than it's predecessor the Primal Impulse.Earlier revs and a better
read in the midlanes. The ball also has a much heavier continuation than
the Impulse. The Primal Scream creates much more overall hook
throughout the lane than the Impulse.

On oily lanes
The core and cover combo creates a lot more hook throughout the
entire lane. And creates a very long continuation when it encounters
friction at the back end.

The Primal Scream clears the heads and midlane nicely, but has enough
energy left to create a nice move on the back end. When it hits the friction
at the back end of the pattern,it turns and doesn't quit. When the lanes
start to go through the transition stage during games 2-3 is when the Scream
really shines. The midlane friction and back end motion allows you to move
deeper into the oil,and still get the ball to recover.
This recovery allows room for errors right of target. And gets just enough length,
so shots missed left have enough hold, which helps most shots stay off the nose.

Kegel: Winding Road 39' on/ Pro Anvilanes /Using the 4000 OOB surface.
,
The Primal Scream really shined for me on this pattern. On the fresh shot
the Primal Scream easily made it through the heads and created enough
friction in the midlane in the 4000 OOB surface. And still stored enough energy
for a nice move on the back end.
What I needed to do on the fresh shot was to keep the ball slightly
to right. This helped keep the ball off the nose. With my ball speed, the ball
has too much reaction on the fresh to play the 39' pattern direct. Also it was
key for me to make sure my ball speed was consistent.
During games 2-4 the Primal Scream allowed me to open up the lane more. Now
I could feed the ball further to the right, and use the back end motion of
the Scream created to get better recovery when the lanes transitioned. The
pin carry was better when the angles were steeper. The margin of error on
this pattern is high.So having a ball that created steeper angles is a plus.
On this pattern, the Primal Scream started to be too much ball after 4 games.
The ball needed to go back in the bag.The Sigma Tour was the ball of choice when
the pattern started to go away.
Overall the Primal Scream was a great ball for the flatter pattern when the lanes
lanes opened up.

42' House Shot/ on 12 year old Anvilanes/Using 4000 OOB surface and polished.

The Primal Scream gets through the heads easy with a good read of the midlane.
With a very heavy and quick reaction to the friction. When I hung the ball to the right,
it still made it back to the pocket. The ball has excellent recover. As the lanes went
through the transition on the house shot,I needed to keep the shot in front of me
and follow the oil line. This ball is so strong at the back end that I needed to keep
the shot in the oil,and not get it into the oil to early.Getting the ball to the dry too quick
on the house shot caused it to face up too early and leave flat 10's.Keeping the shot
in front of me during the first game helped pin carry.

As the shot transitioned during games 2-3,I could easily move deeper to created
steeper angles. With the steeper angles during the transition the pin carry was
increased. The miss area wasn't so critical. The ball now had extra area to come back
without overreaction. And the hold area left was nice. When the lanes went away, this
ball is too much. It's back in the bag.Unless you have high speed and lower revs.

Polishing the Primal Scream in it's 4000 sanded condition helps create the desired
length and reaction I wanted through the front and midlane, but it created too much
flip at the back end.The back end motion was too strong to play the same part of the
lane to start a session. Now I had to move in 4-6 boards on the approach and 2-4
on the lanes.Starting on 28,hitting 16 out to 9.Compared to 23/12/7.By moving into
the oil allowed me to create better angles, now the pin carry was better during the first game because the ball now faced up later.

As the lanes transitioned over games 2-3,the polished Primal Scream allowed me to
stay with line longer, without force feeding the ball through the heads and midlanes
to my breakpoint. Now the ball really showed it's worth. This helped me trust myself.Knowing that the ball wasn't going to check up too early.
When you are sure of your ball reaction, this helps keep you from making a lot
of physical and mental mistakes.

The Primal Scream compared to the 2 Cruel
Th 2 Cruel has more overall hook through the entire lane. The Primal Scream is
smoother through the front part of the lane. With more back end at the back of
the pattern than the 2 Cruel. The Primal Scream reacts much quicker to the friction
and has a longer continuation the the 2 Cruel. The 2 Cruel is a better oil ball than
the Primal Scream. But for creating angles and opening up the lane, the Primal Scream is better suited.

Ratings 1-10 Primal Scream 2 Cruel

Total Hook 8 9
Length 5 4
Back end 8.5 7
Versatility 6 5
Shelf Appeal 9 8
Coverstock 10 10
ease of adjustment

Closing Comments:The Primal Scream is a great oil ball, best suited for longer house shots and longer sport shots.Too much ball for drier house shots and short oil sport shots. The Primal Scream fills the hole between my Sigma Hybrid and 2 Cruel. This is just the ball I have been waiting for.The back end helps to create angles that previously was missing from my bag.
