So I get to the bowling alley for my Monday night league and I am feeling okay. My doctor said my back was making progress and that the two compression fractures were healing well. The herniations in my L3 and L4 were looking better and L1 and L2 were not perfect but improving. Then I find out that the guy I am to bowl head to head had pre-bowled (without a witness like a league secretary or anybody) and has bowled a 748. Now the guy averages just about the same as I do (about 207 right now) but his scores were a 213, a 267 and a 268. I immdiately begin to sweat. ow the heck am I gonna beat those scores given the fact that my back is the mess it is?

SO, we begin and I am throwing my Vivid. I start of with a couple of solid 9s. No big deal, the carry has to improve. I end up with a 219 and take the first game. The next game I throw 4 more solid 9s and decide in game three there will be a ball change. I limp out of game two with a 172. So my opponent stomps me completely in game 2. I break out a ball I have drilled to handle broken down oil - my Critical Theory. I start offf slowly - a 10 pin which I missed and a 7 count and spare. So, I figure, "okay, two boards right with my feet and look further down the lane." I figure I need the next 10 in a row and I can beat him for game three, by one pin. So, to make a long story short I buried the next 10 and beat the guy 269 to 268. Score one for the old guys with the ailing backs....;)

Nicely done. I never take those old guys for granted. Friday night we have an 84 year old bowler his ball may not be going down the alley very fast, but he is consistent and accurate.

Good job Jay. So much for not watching the scoreboard.

We used to bowl against a guy named Charlie who ran a soda home delivery business. At least once each season he would show up at the bowling alley loudly complaining that he had hurt his back and he shouldn't even be there. Any time we bowled him on one of those nights we always wound up wishing that he had stayed home. Because of his back he would be trying to take it easy and would shoot 20 to 30 pins over each game.
