OMG! just went bowling on a pretty fresh oil.. it was a Christmas Tree oiling pattern. Even my DV8 Hell Raiser Revenge couldn't hook on the lanes.. I was having trouble even though I was throwing straight down the 7-10 boards and the ball just couldn't hook in.. It went down to in between pin 3 - 6 all the time.. when I throw slower, the ball doesn't have the power.. it either skids right through.. or it just went into the gutter.. sigh.. pretty sucked on fresh oil... today avg was less than 100 a game because i kept on going into the gutter.. sigh!!! what can I do to improve!!! anyone!!!!

For a good deep cleaning, one must let the ball bathe in hot water with some kind of soap solution and for howmany minutes?

Throw it two handed like Belmonte. ;)

Just kidding. When I bowl on lanes that I just can't hook on, I throw it straight until the lanes dry up enough to give the ball some traction. Hitting some pins is better than hitting none.

If you know the length of the pattern(Example 38')you subtract 31 and that will be your starting line. You also might want to consider sanding ball to 1000 and no polish. You might try standing on 15 board and throw over 7 and see if that helps.

I rub mine with Dawn Dishwashing soap and put it in a hot water bath (NOT BOILING) for 20 minutes. Then I rinse it out and do it again...

Keep the ball on the wood. Just kidding. Obviously you couldn't have been throwing straight down the 7-10 boards as you posted, if you had, the ball would not have slid into the gutter. Given what I've seen of videos of you bowling before, I would guess you're too far on top of the ball again instead of staying under the ball. Did you look at the track on your ball and where was it? The oil track can tell you whether your release is off or different than usual.

hmm.. bill.. i've been throwing from maybe the 10th boards from the right to maybe around 7 boards.. i cant throw a ball straight than let it hook back in.. the best I can is to make it go out a little than come back in.. or just aiming towards the 1 3 pins..

Water is supposed to be hot, approximately 120 - 140 degrees F, not boiling at 212 degrees F!

Eugene please post your findings after the balls have been cleaned. Recently, the past 2 weeks, the oil pattern in my house seems to have changed from a THS board 10 - 10 to a THS board 5 - 5. It gives me similar results as you see. The only difference is that I can throw the ball out to the 1 or 2 board and watch it roar back. Try straight down 5 thru 10 board produces NO hook. I do not think its the balls, I believe that oil has spread horizontally on the alley. Please let me know your results.
