What are the top things you look for in picking a new ball?

The Core? How strong it is? What everyone else is using?

I usually bowl right handed but do all else left handed. Being a natural lefty, I think outside the box so I couldn't care less what everybody else is using. Hence my plunge with DV8.
What I look for in a new ball is, what do I need it for? Pattern, part of the lane, etc. It takes a lot of research and/or knowledge of balls to select the ball and layout to match what you're looking for. If it's just to buy a ball then I get whatever new ball I think I want.

What I look for in a ball is versatility. A versatile ball is a ball that can be used on almost any lane condition. The serious bowler has at least 6 balls in his arsenal. 2 Heavy oil,2 Medium,1 Light oil,1 Dry lane and a spare ball. Don't buy a ball just because everyone else has 1. What works for them may not work for you. As Billf stated what do you need it for? THS(Typical house short),Tournaments, are you going to have fresh oil or be on a lane where people have been bowling. I do a lot of research before I buy a ball. I watch a lot of youtube videos of whatever ball I want.

The most important thing is color! An ugly ball just won't work. ;)

With all the ball choices out there you really have to look at what the lane conditions you are typically going to bowling on. If you are on a medium/light oil lane and that's the only place you are going to bowl, get a ball best suited for that.

Welll I'll keep these suggestions in mind when I go look for a new ball.

I was looking at a review of the berserk ball they giving away here.

I like where he said
First Impressions
This ball was instantly non-stop striking on the house shot. This ball will excel on medium conditions.

I'm just on a house shot, so this type sounds good.

I have a beserk drilled pin under ring finger and took the finish down to 2000 abralon and it hits hard on THS which in my case is usually wet/dry after the 6p league where it's 10 people bowling on a pair.
