This is the year that I decided that I wanted to learn how to bowl; at least take it more seriously. I've been to various bowling centers since I was a kid, but never really considered getting more involved with bowling. I'm planning on buying a ball and some shoes within the next week and then start going to the lanes at least 1-2 times a week. I'm hoping that in a handful of months, I'll be able to join a recreational league in the Spring of next year. I am really glad that I found this website and I know that I'll have a number of questions; ranging from equipment to technique.

I'm in the heart of Silicon Valley; Sunnyvale to be more precise. Don't have a home bowling center; any recommendations?

Sorry but I don't know any places down there. I only know what is around San Bruno. You need to do a search for a center near you and see what you come up with. Then visit each one to see which one you like the best. There are going to e people who disagree with me but I really like Classic Bowl in Daly City. Also, how far are you willing to travel. I know of one in San Francisco, Daly City, Pacifica, and San Bruno(very small, 12 lanes). There is suppose to be a new one opening in San Mateo but I forget whAt it is called and it isn't going to open till sometime next year.

Thanks for the names of the bowling centers that are a little north of me; I'm really interested in checking out as many centers as possible.
