I have a average around 160. Lately I am seeing improvement but am leaving one pin with the first ball alot. What can I do to overcome this?

Welcome to the Forums Jcstubb, can you explain a bit more on your issue?

Are your right or left handed?

what pin are you leaving?

do you throw a hook ball or straight?

I am right handed, its usually 8,9 or 10. I throw a hook ball.

Alright, so when you leave the single pin a few things could be happening:

missing your target: the biggest thing people need to work in is hitting there target consistently, if you can't hit your target every time your gonna miss

if the ball is hitting the pocket every time but you still tend to leave pins it is time to try a new line:

depending on where you stand and what board you target the entry angle into the pocket can change, if you are consistently hitting the pocket and leaving pins try moving left or right in order to change your entry angle.

If possible, could you post a video of yourself bowling? this would help us understand your style a lot more and make it easier for us to give you advice that would help you instead of generic advice.

Thanks,

Ben

A little extra info:

"In general, if you're leaving something in the back row, the ball isn't achieving the right entry angle. Too flat, you will tend to leave weak 10's and stone 8's, too steep and you will tend to leave solid 9's and fast 7's."
