I love this idea. Team bowling is so much better than individual. Cant imagine how fired up Weber is going to be with this.

Pretty sweet idea. I want to see what cities are chosen and it would be cool if each team had a cool team name with logo/mascot. I think they should brand the teams, I bet they could sell hats and shirts like crazy. When I first saw the link with team bowling I figured it would be basically ball brand based. Almost like NASCAR where each team has it's own manufacturer. That would have been a good marketing idea for all the ball manufacturer's. Obviously they already have their bowler's which you know what kind of stuff they use based on their gear, but they could take it a step farther with creating teams that way. Maybe even bring in some sponsorship dollars from outside bowling companies for the teams.

DV8 will be represented :D Well I hope so. I can't see machuga not doing this as it sounds like a great idea.

Nice to see three females vying for spots. Who gets picked will be interesting. If Tommy Jones is finally fully healed, he could be the dark horse that wins a ton this year. That would make him a good pick for whatever team he ends up on.

This reminds me a lot about the hockey fantasy draft, seeing as hockey is dead this year, this will make a great replacement!

Could create some interesting rivalries, like if someone picks Mika before Barnes has a chance. Think there might be a little extra motivation for Barnes' team when they bowl head to head?

Can't wait to see the teams after they are picked. Hoping Brad Angelo makes it on to a team so I can route for him and talk to him about it. I bowl at the Lanes he just bought in Lockport. The guy is doing a great job at fixing up and old uncared for alley and bringing people back in the door. Such a nice guy too, see him every week at my league where he jokes around and talks to everybody.

Just hoping they have cool names and logos. I would totally buy a hat.

The clothing line alone could really help the PBA financially. Many hats plus how many league teams would get shirts like their favorite pro team? I like it because I like several individual bowlers but not exactly the entire staff of any one company.
Maybe a chance to finally root for Parker Bohn III and Rhino Page at the same time with Tommy Jones?

Brad Angelo comes off as a bit egotistical on TV. Glad to hear he isn't like that off the lane. Western NY isn't that far. Maybe I should come see the place one day.

Yeah Bill Western New York isn't very far from Ohio. Although I hate driving in Ohio. It is like a never ending state of highways! Brad Angelo is a very nice guy and always is walking around with a smile when I see him at the lanes. He just bought the lanes in August and turned it around well from what it was. I think people get bad impressions of guys as they only see them in tournament settings where they are trying to focus. No doubt there are some jerks but it is tough to know what they are like without actually spending time with them more than saying hi.
And just googled your town....... it is a bit of a drive! lol

Which lanes did he buy South transit or allie brandt? Those are the only two lanes that I know of it that area.

scottymoney
11-05-2012, 03:31 PM
He bought South Transit and has done a good job on cleaning the place up. Brad himself was out during leagues the first few weeks talking to everyone making sure everything was up to par. He came over to our lane and asked if everything was ok so far that night. Myself and one of my teammates kept sticking on a spot on the approach, it seemed to be right near my slide point of my left foot right near release. So him and I went over and found the spot and he took care of it. There is still a few things to be worked on like any bowling alley.

None of my troubles at the lanes can be as frustrating as the issues they have at the WSOB on lanes 7 and 8. You could really see it last night during the Viper Championship. They talked about it and I watched as guys who were shooting over 220's and 230's go over to 7 and 8 and be lucky to hit 190. During the round of 16 Mike Fagan squeaked out just enough on the last game which was on lanes 7 and 8 for him to make the show. Fagan was first overall going into the final game and dropped so fast hitting those lanes. I think he shot like a 185 and made it in on 1 or 2 pins.

I just hope they go away from the golf atmosphere where everyone is quiet. I would love to see everyone screaming and yelling in the crowd and the players getting into the game and trying to get into each other's head.

At the Ryder cup this year, some of the golfers had the crowd cheering during their tee offs. It was nice to see. A lot of the golfers and even bowlers take the complete silence thing a bit too far. Personally i need noise.

There are just too many bowlers bowling in "fun" leagues with demands of total queit and no music.

What's fun about that? (bowler intro music like they have for relief pitchers and wrestlers would be awesome)

As much as I love watching him bowl, Walter Ray is past his prime. The days of him lighting it up as he once did are history ;(
Rash picking him may have been the classiest move he's made in a very long time. Second to the sick kid he took under his wing a couple of seasons ago.

My favorite, Rhino Page was the number one pick. Tommy Jones is a favorite too. When truly healthy he is a beast. Hopefully the injuries the past three years are fully behind him. Dick (THB) Allen is a favorite too.

Very cool, teams look pretty cloe to even. I like Belmo's lineup. A recent player of the year in Malott, a Hall Of Famer in Bohn, two top international bowlers in Ruiz and Gomez and Dave Wodka. I like Fagans team too, with Smallwood, Scrogins and Ronnie Russell, and maybe the sleeper pick of the draft with Kelly Kulick. This should be fun. I also like the fact they didn't just pick guys from the same ball company. I understand the Summer Shootout is designed around that, what got me was the doubles tourney at the WSOB. The Mark Roth/Marshal Holman touney, were there was a draft, and it just so happened that everyone picked a guy who represented the same company.

Anybody think we can turn this into a fantasy bowling thing?

MisterSinister
11-13-2012, 07:57 AM
Wow, I like that idea. The only problem is the games aren't live, right?

scottymoney
11-13-2012, 10:13 AM
Yeah it would be tough to do fantasy bowling as they tape so many shows off of one tournament location. Like the WSOB they shot 5 tv finals for ESPN which will be shown over 5 weeks. So seeing as it isn't as live and mainstream as football or basketball it would be nearly impossible to do. Or on the other hand cheating, as those who buy extraframe can watch players and know what happens ahead of time.

I think they shot more than 5 finals. All of the results were available online too, so if you wanted to know wo won before it aired, you could. It was hidden, until you clicked a button that said, results have not aired yet, but to view final standing click here. My chick didn't know that, and I got her to bet me throughout the season. She always though Sean Rash was going to win, and I kept betting he wouldn't. Then, the last event of the year (the one that was live) she wised up, ad didn't bet me. Too bad, she would have won.

My money is on Pete Weber to win over all.
