View Full Version : Chcik from Ohio
Hello. My name is Krista. My dad said I should register as there are very few females. Anyway, I'm a Stroker that is averaging 210 with low ball speed. Obviously I'm rev dominant so I have to be careful of my axis rotation. I'm going to be 23 soon. I bowled in high school and was captain of the team my senior year. I then took the four years between school and the end of last season off. In school I used a Scout urethane, Total NV and The One. This past February my dad bought me a DV8 Reckless. I subbed in a league the first time using it and rolled a 835 series so now I'm in love with DV8. So I'm here to learn, share what I know and maybe recruit other females to join. Have a great night!

Welcome to the boards!
so, got any secrets about dear old dad to share? :D
Good ones or bad? He is the most versatile bowler I know but doesn't follow his own advice enough. He knows that though and it really bugs him. If he didn't push me so hard when I want to quit bowling my sophomore year, I wouldn't be enjoying the sport again now. He is the hardest working person I know. Whether it's work or bowling, he always puts in 100%. I asked once when I was a little kid why he studied manuals and stuff all the time. He said other people were faster, smarter and better so he had to make sure he worked harder. He always puts others first. My team bowled his two weeks ago for first place. I was struggling. As soon as I said something he told me what to do. I saved that first game with a 191 then shot a 246 and 279. I would have been lucky to break 400 if he wasn't paying attention. It cost them first place, at least for now.
He is writing a book. Ummm, his military medals are in a box hidden in the basement (now he knows I know about it). He has a quick temper but only with adults. He always says kids have a reason to be stupid, they don't know any better, adults should know better. For Halloween 2009 he dressed as a Hooters girl and 2010 as John Holmes (don't ask). His sense of humor is very, very warped. Oh, and he always seems to find my friends attractive. I guess that makes him a dirty old man lol

If you want to play this game: GWOC (greater western Ohio conference) regional finals coming off a 6 bagger to start the tenth, the youngster lost her ball on the back swing. Embarrassed she composed herself to strike out for a 290. The dent may still be on the approach at those lanes. Road trip?
And who showed up to that match with a mohawk dyed with the school colors? I was so embarrassed yet all my friends thought it was cool. How weird...that's my dad.

Welcome to the boards! I always love seeing more females get involved with the game, especially this part of it. The social aspect is one of the best of any sport and finding help with a resource like this is an awesome thing. Please do recruit more and more to the boards, it would be great to see it get much bigger!
He is coaching tonight after his league so I may be able to slip this one in without him finding out.......My wedding and I wanted my dad to walk me down the aisle. No problem. Family flies in and all that. I spend the two nights in a row before the wedding going to dinner with out of state family, my dad and get this, one girlfriend the first night and the other the second night. As if that wasn't bad enough he brought both of them to the wedding. They knew about each other so at least he was honest with them. One is my best friend's mother and the secretary of our Saturday league. So here is my dad with his ex-wife and two girlfriends. He some how pulled it off and is actually now married to one of them.
He bowled againt tonight. Not sure if he said anything here but last Monday night he got a hairline fracture of the ulna bone in his right (throwing) wrist. It's about a 1/4" above where he fractured it a few years ago. This dork just puts a wrist brace on and keeps bowling. If I even thought of doing that he would lecture me until I gave in.

The first unwritten rule of coaching: Do as I say,not as I do!
I once tried to play basket ball and the next day softball with a broken thumb. In my defense, the doctor who looked at the x-ray said he thought it was only a sprain, but see an orthopedist when you get back to CT.

Can't blame your dad for that one. If my arm can move and my hand can hold the ball, I can bowl. :)

That sounds like a great time to experiment with lefty bowling :D
a buddy of mine learned how to bowl left handed like this, he broke his right arm but still wanted to bowl, so in he comes, cast and all. by the time the cast came off he was up to a 145 average left handed, not bad
