Several times I refer to this magazine as being a bowlers bible. I normally read each issue cover to cover three or four times after it comes in the mail. I can't say enough good about the information you can get from this magazine, and would encourage anyone who loves this game and strives to get better to subscribe. I use information I gather both for my own personal game, as well as when I coach at the lanes.
If you go to their web site http://www.bowlingthismonth.com they will send you a copy of the current issue. You will not be disappointed. Many of the questions about the game and technique are answered monthly and by some of the best coaches in the world. Many of the top professionals also submit comments and articles as well. The articles are well written and easy to understand and the information they have on new balls out on the market is very good.
Try it, because I'm sure you'll like it and want to subscribe. And no I don't work for them or am I being paid for this as an advertisement. You will get an immense amount of info out of every issue.

You sold me after the first time I read what you wrote about them. I ordered them in October, my first issue is scheduled to arrive any day now. I got a 2 year subscription and the mag is the real deal for sure.

You will not regret getting a subscription. I really can't say enough good about it. It is packed with great information all bowlers can use every month.

Got my first issue in the mail today. I've read about 3/4 of it, and I'll read it again later or finish it. I found the ball comparison articles and charts the most interesting (but probably the least useful for I still working on form and stuff). The chart was really cool where they had like 100 modern balls on a chart for hook = x, and length = y. Each point on the chart had a color to represent the manufacturer and had the ball name next to the dots. I can see how extremely useful that chart could be for a person who knew exactly what kind of reaction they were looking for, and could have found that reaction in minutes instead of hours of looking at figures. There were several facts in the book that make me think about my swing, one was the position of the ball on the setup. I remembered there have been times where I would tuck my elbow into my stomach, and other times I would have my elbow further away from my body. I never gave my elbow much thought, it kinda just ended up where it needed to be based on how high or low I have the ball starting position for speed. I think I tuck it in when I have the ball at waist level or higher, and away from my body when it is below waist level. As for the horizontal placement of the ball, I am pretty sure I always have it centered between my shoulders. One article says the keep the ball directly below the shoulders, I don't know what to think of this. Overall the mag is totally loaded with good info.

Remember, most comments about stuff like keeping the ball directly below the shoulders are usually for a basic set up and not always meant for when you are tweaking that to your style or specific need at the time (like adjusting for speed). The thought is to keep the ball under the shoulder throughout the entire swing to improve the swing slot and accuracy. Easier said than done though.

I bowled about 15 games having the ball under my right shoulder which didn't seem to do anything, but I will continue bowling like this for awhile. I also payed attention to my elbow, and it was like I said (elbow tucked in when the ball is waist or higher, elbow out in front when the ball is lower.

Once you get it, I promise you, you'll want a subscription. Just got my new one a few days ago and have already been through it 3 times.
Tell them you found out on bowling boards.com, and maybe they'll cut you some slack.

My two daughters wanted to know what I want for Christmas. I said that I don't need anything. They said I must want something. Then I remembered Bowling This Month magazine. So I told my two daughters to chip in and get me the magazine for a year. So they are getting off cheap at $21.00 a piece for my Christmas gift. Of course my daughter said dad, that is all you want for Christmas is a magazine? I said yes. Now all I have to do is wait.

You should have also asked for a little peace and quiet while you read the magazine.

NAH.....not a big deal. I did let them know they might get an influx of subscription requests, but my intent is to get people here on the boards the best possible information in their hands. I can't say enough good about the magazine as it's helped my game and helped me in my coaching. These coaches that write for the mag are the best of the best in my opinion, if that's worth anything. Every bowler can benefit from it.
