My Wednesday Am team was bowling against one of the teams tied for first place and I just had to give it a try today, though my back is extremely stiff and sore. I took my Prednisone and Soma and left for the bowling alley. When I got there I felt a little wobbly and sore but gave it a go anyway. I started off with a split and wondered if my idea of bowling wasn't such a great idea. Perhaps I had rushed back into action too quickly...long story short I finished off with a 235 for my first game. Second game was a 231 with one open frame (I missed an easy spare). The last game I started with the first 6 strikes and ended up with a 267. Total was a 733.

Maybe I bowl better in pain???

maybe you bowl better with drugs!

Lol i was just thinking this.....

think about it, you took muscle relaxers right? so if your muscles are relaxed you won't be tensed up and trying to jam the ball, thus the high scores!

and no, nobody should take drugs to do better LOL

I was practicing yesterday and was in game two when I threw my first ball in the middle of the game and I felt a twinge in my lower back. At first I thought this isn't good. I didn't know if it would get worse or stay where it was at. Luckily it didn't go into the serious muscle spasm where you have trouble walking or doing just about anything that requires movement. I was concerned because this Saturday is league night. So as it stands it isn't bad but when I bowl it is a little sore. I don't know how smart it was for me to bowl four more games after that. It didn't seem to bother me when I finished. I thought that maybe it would freeze up once I was at home and inactive. I think I need to do more plank exercises to strengthen my back and abs. The six games were 196, 150, 216, 151, 153 and 171. These are scores using my brand new urethane Hammer Blue Hammer ball. I have to get use to the ball going longer down the lane and not hooking like my Raw Hammer Anger that hooks big time. Need to practice spare shooting mostly. I like that I can hit it good on the first ball and still have a nice controlled hook to the pocket. I think I got distracted by a high school girls league that came in and took lanes that ended with their last to lane right next to me. Everytime I would get ready to
bowl the next frame they would be running up to do their shot. It kind of broke my concentration from game three on. That would be like bowling next to somebodys birthday party. Oh well.

Jay ,,,, watch the DRUGS,,, I have a brother with back problems, and he is into taking drugs for the pain! He is a physical wreck now, use to be into sports, and weight lifting won some contest!

But now relies on drugs to mitigate has pain! I have Many,,,,, Many injuries due to playing football from 7 grade through College, (William Jewell College), and then being an Iron worker, and teacher for 30 years. Broken Neck in 92, herniated disk, RA, Lupus, Lost most of my disk in lower back due to wearing heavy tools, and bolt bags full of 7/8 nuts and bolts! Feet have nerve problems, fells like a burning sensation all the time! But……. I have found that Diet, and all natural supplements work better then pain medication!

Also Working OUT at the gym, relieves pain! Working through the pain at the gym is in my opinion is one of the most important ways to handle the pain. All Drugs out there are Short term pain relief. You are always robbing Peter to pay Paul! You are taking some very serious drugs,,, beware! I don’t even take aspirin, don’t need it. The Doctors call me an enigma, a puzzle! Diet, exercise, and Good Organic Diet, has changed my life! I started this about 6 years ago when I found out that I had RA! The side effect was that EVERYTHING else got better when I followed the above mentioned life style. Good luck Jay,,,, Great bowling!!

But Iceman! your different, being made of ice all you need to do is add water and your spine grows back!

but really, drugs are never the best solution, if you take pain relievers when you don't need them your body becomes dependent on them and you start the downward spiral :(
