Good ole EARL.

Interesting note, using this robot that can duplicate shots EXACTLY, they found out that it only takes 5 shots from the point the ball strikes to the point it won't strike anymore. Meaning, 5 shots on the same line will create enough transition that the line completely changes.

Given that finding, they should be able to set it up to auto adjust by itself:

if bowlers = 2 move x boards every 3rd shot

It's awesome to actually have undeniable proof regarding this too, thanks to a robot. Everyone has always accepted that oil break down, but not as fast as it actually does. I used to always get annoyed that I would strike 5 times in a row, only to have the 6th shot come high on the pocket. "But I threw the same exact shot!"....exactly the problem.

Now take a 5 man team each thinking they play the same line but are actually a board apart and by the 6th frame you have burnt up a lot of lane.

I bet if you threw some potatoes into the gears they'd look like crinkle fries so I disagree. :D

Earl doesn't have to contend with other people screwing up the shot. It appears Earl is a permanent fixture on the approach so in effect Earl is saying "Back off, this is my lane."

As for it not beating Barnes, blame that on the idiot sitting at the keyboard.

you guys are forgeting its rev rate and ball speed are prob higher then all of ours so that has to affect the lane break down some how

Yea, if you put Barnes in control, then the 300's would begin to flow lol

It has a variable rev rate of 200-900rpm.... beat that belmo!

Just proves bowling is an art more than a science! Plus the fact EARL wasn't bowling the same lane as Barnes so neither could mess with each others lines. It wouldn't really be feasible to do but I would like to see the same test but both bowling on the same lane, like a normal match would be.

That would take a lot longer, moving EARL out of the way doesn't look like a 30 second job lol
