I have not tried it out at the lanes, but it seems to put more pressure on my index finger. Do any of you do this? Or have tried it?

I've tried it but it feels weird to me and my results were mixed. I usually don't do it.

I do it occasionally. In fact, I was doing it last night. I have no problem with it. My knuckle will hurt a little later, but it works for me.

I bowl with my pinky finger out wide, in close, tucked and untucked. The reason I tuck my pinky, and usually why others do it, is to try to get your hand around the side of the ball more on your release to get more side roll and make the ball get into the roll phase later down the lane.

i bowl with my pinky finger right beside my ring finger and it has helped me create more hook on my ball when with my piky out cause if i ever leave up a 9 pin i will tkae the same ball i was throwing and put my pinky out wide and throw it down and it never hooks enough and sometimes just skims the pin.

As said before it just depends on what kind of reaction you want if you keep your pinky and index fingers in you will get more roll. or just pinky in will get around the ball more making it go long.

Have tucked the pinky in for the last 15 -16 years. A good friend told me to try it to get a better roll on the ball. That year I shot 3 300's one month each apart. Haven't gone back to anything else.

That's the main reason I do it. My hand won't stay behind the ball (I'm working on it) so tucking the pinky in helps in the mean time.

I don't do it often. It feels odd. I've seen my dad tuck his pink in during the swing. Really haven't figured out how he can do that.

I used to tuck my pinky in on every shot. Since i hurt somethign in my hand when i do it no the palm of my hand hurts. I have not noticed any difference in how my ball reacts on the lane. I do keep my pinky right next to my ring finger though.

I've done it for so long that it's actually more comfortable tucked. I do notice that the ball goes about 12-18" further down lane also.

Nope it feels weird to me. I notice it props the ball more inside.

The great Don Carter used to do this and he said it helped to support the weak side of the bowlers' hand. I read that in a book he wrote "way back when" and I figured that if he says so, then it must be so. SO, I started tucking mine back in my Moose Club Junior league and have never considered stopping...

I started doing it over the summer, when I really started to craft my new delivery. It was one of the few things I liked right away, and I still do it. I have a ton of side roll, so tucking the pinkie makes it easier. If I don't tuck the pinkie, I can't get the ball off my hand clean.

Rocco, I think that's one of the advantages, getting more side roll. If I'm a very dry condition, and need more forward roll, I'll "untuck", to get a different roll.

I think it does take a while to get used to it, but after a few games it just becomes a natural position.
