Using old Angle for spares?

Can anyone tell me if using an old blue AMF Angle would be a good spare only ball? I was thinking about getting it polished and learning to throw it straight for spares. Not sure of the core but its way more tame than my misfit. Or should I just spring for a new plastic ball?

i use a hook ball but plastic seems to be the best i dont know tho its up to bowler preference =D
