ST. LOUIS - The International Bowling Museum has sold its St. Louis property for $2 million to a company affiliated with the St. Louis Cardinals Baseball Partnership. The land parcel likely will become a part of the new Ballpark Village development.

"The timing for selling the property was perfect," said Pat Ciniello, Museum President. "We are joining the many different bowling organizations in a move to Arlington, Texas, which is a huge step toward industry consolidation and partnership. The proceeds of the sale allow us to move forward with the relocation as well as the designing and developing of our new facility."

The IBM/HF is in the midst of designing a brand new Hall of Fame, which will include interactive displays and a theater. Its new home will be located inside the International Bowling Campus, a 103,000-square-foot building in Arlington. The Hall and Museum will occupy approximately 18,000 square feet of that space.

In addition to the Hall of Fame, the International Bowling Campus houses the headquarters of the United States Bowling Congress, Bowling Proprietors' Association of America, and a host of other organizations and groups.

The Museum's collection of artifacts, research materials, photos, videos and other archival material that was housed in St. Louis will be carefully packaged and sent to Arlington.

These materials will be used in permanent, rotating and special exhibits in the new facility, support traveling exhibits or satellite locations that may be planned, and provide an invaluable information source for research. The new facility is expected to open early in 2010.

"This collection is an important part of history; it is our job to preserve that history," Ciniello said.

The International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame collects and preserves the rich history of bowling and uses that information to help promote the sport worldwide.
