I've returned to bowling this year and got a new 15 lb misfit this year. I've continually had severe wrist pain, I think because the first few times I bowled this year I used my old 16lb angle. I've had to get a roto grip wrist brace and still have pain every time I bowl to some degree. I've had problems with ball speed due to pain, which usually results in too much hook ( hard to believe with the misfit). So I found a new 14 lb misfit on eBay for 60 bucks and it came today. My pro shop guy is kinda pissed, not sure if I didn't get the ball off him or what. He can't drill it til Saturday before league but I'd like to get it done sooner. He told me he drill my original misfit conservatively, but I don't know what my measurements. I'm going to get another guy to do it and show him my original setup and see if he thinks its ok or if we should drill differently.

How much increase do you think my speed will increase? Obviously trying to reduce my wrist pain too. Any thoughts appreciated.

First off I would take at least 2 weeks off to give your wrist time to heal. I would suggest investing in a wrist brace! Ball speed may increase by maybe 2mph! The shop guy is pissed because you bought a ball cheaper then what he was going to sell it to you for. Make sure he doesn't over charge you for drilling and make sure he drills it right. Drilling should'nt be more then $50 on avg.

I got the roto grip brace and the wrist is getting better. My guy charges $30 to drill it, not to bad in my opinion. I had $120 in my other misfit with drilling, I'll have 90 in this one total. Zothen, any idea or is there a formula to determine ball speed if you know your avg speed with a 15 lb ball and go lighter?

I don't know any of any formula for calculating ball speed other then estimating. I do know Here in California I bowl at an alley that has speed gun to let you know how fast your ball is,so you would have to see if any of the alley's where you live have this technology. You could also ask your pro shop if they know how to calculate ball speed.

Well it is distance divided by time to find speed. But here is a speed calculator basically have someone use a stop watch from release to hitting the pins to get the time it travels 60 feet. enter your time and it will give you the speed.
