I was an active member of these forums a while back, but life can get busy from time to time. I didn't have time to participate in leagues or browse these forums for a while, but I'm back!

I've been bowling in a new league for about 6 months, now. The reason I thought to come back is because of GREAT news! I've lost 60 pounds between the time I quit my last league and started this new one. My fingers are thinner now and my ball no longer feels right. I currently throw a Hammer No Mercy, which I believe I bought around 2006 or so... So I went to my pro shop to see about getting it plugged and re-drilled, but that would cost $70+ to do. Why not get a new one?!?!?! It seems like a nice little reward for losing 60 pounds!

So I did some research and settled on the Lane 1 Droid, as our AMF lanes seem to prefer 10W-40 instead of conventional lane oil... I remember there used to be a guy on here who was always posting video's with some kind of slogan (I can't remember it exactly...) that went, "Callouses on my paws, for the saws." I thought I'd come back and see what people on here are saying about the Droid.

Anywho! I hope to be back!!! hahaha. I bowl in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area (Texas), and I'm far from an expert on anything, but I do enjoy bowling!

Thanks! Yeah, I found him. It doesn't seem to matter, though. I don't know how anyone can truly know if they'll like a ball or not. How can you? The only reason I thought about the droid is someone in our league throws one and I threw it a few times. But even then, his layout is much different than mine.

It's like golf: It's all a head game! hahahaha.

Welcome (back?)

Welcome back. I'm guessing the handicap is what helped contribute to missing 5 pins in that series.

hahahaha. I've decided I never bowl well in the first game because I'm too sober. The second game I do pretty well, and the third game I've probably had too much so I'll never do well there! hahaha. jk. But our team has fun! I enjoy bowling as a hobby. I want to be good, but if I ever start taking it TOO seriously, that will be the day it's no longer fun, and I'll quit.

AND I said I didn't want to talk about that series!!! hahahaha. Here's a picture from that series (I'm KH), do you notice anything?: 700 series that wasn't (https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn1/18600_4968959110228_1946915296_n.jpg)

Actually, that game is the biggest reason I've decided I need a new bowling ball. hahahah. Quite frankly, I wasn't thinking and it slipped off my hand and right into the gutter. I think I have to compensate a little too much and work a little too hard to hold onto the ball since my fingers are now too small for the holes.

Dang, modified your avatar and added to your signature. I liked the other pic better
That gutter really hurt I see. At least you have a reason for it. This past summer after an 8 bagger, I skidded my slide foot toe on my second step for no apparent reason and dropped the ball in the channel. Getting the spare and striking out didn't make me feel any better about it either!
I would compare spans after the pro shop measures you. Maybe you could get away with just tighter grips and a smaller slug.
BTW, congratulations on the weight loss. I'm hoping you wanted it and it wasn't due to health problems causing it.

Yeah. I was about 280, I needed to lose some weight. I had been working for a large bank, and I switched to a Credit Union. The money isn't the same, but the stress is incomparable! That was really the majority of the battle! Once the stress was gone, it was easy to find the energy to diet and exercise. Mental health is good, physical health is MUCH better and improving! I can't complain! Life is good!

Side note: Gotta say, if you have ever thought about "juicing" (NO, not that kind, A-Rod...), that was the BIGGEST help. Getting those vitamins really helped my energy levels, sleeping patterns, etc.

hahahaha. I like the old avatar too, BUT... This IS a bowling forum, so doesn't The Dude have to make an appearance? SHUT UP, DONNIE!!! hahahaha

It's because we have the best first names on this site! With all joking aside, Kevin is easily the best name available. There are a few who will tie us in our first name excellence, but none will surpass us.

hahahaha. Yeah, I've only been back less than 24 hours, and I feel hopelessly behind in all posts. I didn't leave because of anything anyone said or did or anything like that. I truly like the community we have here. I simply became way too busy!

I work in banking/finance and the economy was in the toilet. I was lucky I never got laid off, because a ton of people did lose their jobs (and many times it had NOTHING to do with them, it was just how the times were!). I even got lucky enough to jump ship from one company to another without ever being unemployed! But everything got really busy and hectic, and work takes priority because it's VERY hard to pay for bowling without income!!! So I had to stop bowling and I think I just stopped coming here too, because it was easier to just stop cold turkey! hahaha.

But about 2 years ago I made ANOTHER company change and went from a big FDIC bank to a small NCUA, Not for Profit, Credit Union. I can't even BEGIN to tell you what a difference that makes. Stress is gone, time has freed up, and guess what? IT'S TIME TO BOWL AGAIN!!!

So here I am! Good seeing ya again!
