Hey all,
The names Ben Gripp. I bowl out of London Ontario Canada, and I am 23 years old. I have been bowling since i was 4 - 5 years old. I started out as a 5 pin bowler, but after 5 years I tried out 10 pin. I have now been bowling for 18 seasons. I have been a coach for our youth league for the past 7 years, and I have ran some learn to bowls for both adults and youth bowlers. I have won bowler of the year twice for our youth league ( in my final two years). And Bowler of the year for London and District once.
My current arsenal that I use is Hammer Taboo Jet Black, a Hammer Swagga, the Storm Virtual Gravity ( which I am working on replacing), and a Hammer Cube spare ball.
I have managed to achieve 3 honor scores so far, which I am very proud of. I bowled my first 299 last year in November, got stoned with a solid 9 pin, and i managed to finish the night with my highest series.(299 212 279 - 790) I finally got my first 300 on January 17th 2012. And I recently bowled my second 300 on November 13th 2012. My year book average for last season was 208. I found myself in a slump towards the last quarter of the year. I got burnt out from bowling a summer league and not having that break in between seasons. I took this past summer off to regroup and currently hold a 213 average.
Last night I had my best mental comeback of my life in a qualifier for the World Cup. I started out with a 134, I couldn't do anything right. Came back with a 209 with an open in a 10th, then proceeded to go 262, with front 7, split open struck out. 259, 246 to move on to Barrie Ontario.
I hope that I am able to bring something to the forums, hopefully I can help create a little conversation, and maybe even help someone improve their game. I have seen a couple local ontarians posting around here, and thought i would join in.
