Is it time for a new keyboard?

I noticed today that when I type a word it sometimes is missing a letter. I thought that at first I was going goofy. So I concentrated on each word and looked to see if it was spelled correctly. Sure enough there would be a word that was missing a letter. Would a keyboard going south have this problem
or could it be something else? I am not a computer genius so sometimes I need help with computer problems. So wassup?

Seriously? I would assume it getting wet wouldn't be the best thing, but if you let it dry out fully before plugging it back it, I bet it wouldn't be a big deal.

They do get crap in them but I don't recommend using the dishwasher to clean them. It might work OK, then again you might find a dead keyboard when you plug it back in because the heat from the dishwasher combined with hard water can damage them. Stores like Best Buy, Staples, Office Depot etc all sell little air cans you can use to blow the dust out of a keyboard or other peripheral for just a few bucks and they work very well. They are also fun for chasing the dog with and spooking your significant other.

I don't think keyboards run that much if you just get a regular one, nothing special. I mean... Spending nothing is ALWAYS better than spending something, but if push comes to shove...

Just be glad your computer doesn't have autocorrect like my phone! hahahaha. I bring it on myself, though because sometimes the texts are too funny to bother turning it off! Recently someone told me to meet them at a Lebanese restaurant. Autocorrect was kind enough to let them know I was happy to go, because I'd never had lesbian food before!

Getting electronics wet is a misnomer, the only issue comes when adding water to a live circuit (plugged in) there is nothing wrong with washing things like a keyboard in a dishwasher as long as you allow time for it to dry afterward. if you are unsure of the heat settings on the dishwasher, just use a sink instead.

*note* do not use soap! rise cycle only.


I have done this many times and can confirm there is nothing wrong with it.

please note, do not do this with a computer.... computers have components that store electricity and this will end poorly.

This same principle however can be used to save a laptop if you spill something on it, expediently remove the battery and turn the computer over to attempt to stop the liquid from going to far into the computer. use a fan and let the computer air out for a few days. (not 100% full proof as i said components like the bios battery and any capacitors can still hold energy that can cause a short circuit but its better than nothing.
