Last night was a good bowling night for me. I'd been struggling with a few things, and everything finally fell back into place. The lanes were really slick last night which is extremely out of the ordinary for the house I was bowling in. Once I got my speed dialed in, it was a good night. I wound up with a 156, 193, 201.

These are my scores from practice on 12/13/12. I rolled six games, 211, 216, 247, 191, 211, 205.

My scores from league last night were horrific: 116, 136, 193. I put way too much pressure on myself to bowl well during league, and my mental game imploded. By the time the third game started, I was sure we were going to get swept and once the pressure to win was off, the pins started falling again. We actually won the last game by enough pins to take total pinfall and split the points with the other team.

Been there Big Nick! Hate when that happens. Practice is like butta.....league I get too tense. Gotta stay relaxed.

Remembering to stay relaxed is one of the things that I have the hardest time with. The way I see it, it was a good learning experience, though. I'm going to put some tape on the toe of my left shoe and write "Relax" on it so I'll see it as I find my spot on the approach.

Had a really good night in league last night. The first two games were great, but once again I missed the signs that it was time to move and wound up throwing three splits in a row in the third game. Final scores were 201, 192, and 164.

I had another good night in league tonight. I shot a 181,202,187 series for a 570 total. Only had 3 open frames all night, 2 in the first game, 1 in the second, and the third game was 100% clean. Needless to say, I was happy with my performance.

I'm still not doing so hot in my Sunday night league. Maybe one day I'll have some really nice scores to post. Anyway, last Sunday night I bowled 147, 169, 175 for a 491 series.

My Tuesday night league scores are much better. It's in a different house than the Sunday night league, and I bowl much better there. Shot a 187, 200, 240 for a 627 series. That's only my second 600 series, and is also my best scratch series in league to date.

Great job Nick. Are you able to play the same line in Both houses?

Perrin, sometimes I can play the same line and sometimes I can't. The lanes in the house where my Tuesday night league is play much more consistently than the ones in the house where my Sunday night league is. I can count on being within a board or two when practice starts during the Tuesday night league, and getting dialed in before practice is over. In the other house, I've gone entire nights without finding any line that works.

ouch. that definitely sucks. We have a house like that here. It'll have the same shot for weeks and then it will drastically change but the house swears they put out the same oil pattern.

If it is like the one here stick with it and you'll start being able to make drastic adjustments off of the reaction you get on the first ball you throw.

example I always start my fist shot from the same mark. if it strikes great if not I move my feet and mark based on where the ball ended up, where the breakpoint was, and the overall reaction of the ball.

I am still getting it down but practice really does help. I am saving myself extra warmup time by for example jumping 5-3 right on the second shot rather than moving 2-1 right each time over 3-4 shots.

Wish I could help you more with ideas but the adjustments are different depending on your style and how the ball looks on the lane.

I had been struggling with a consistent release for the last few weeks, but I finally had a break through while practicing about a week ago. I knew that the real test for the changes would be whether or not I was able to perform during my Sunday night league. The first game was a clean 204 (which thoroughly miffed my other male teammate; he's been after a clean game ever since league started and he wasn't happy that I got one before he did), second was a 211, and the last game was a 182. I missed getting my first 600 series in that house by 3 pins, but I consider my release changes to have been fire-tested now. That house is notoriously difficult to score well in.

Things are finally starting to click for me during my Sunday night league. Last night's scores were 187, 161, 214. The second game was a lot better than the score indicates. The only open frames were some nasty splits that I left as the lanes started to transition. The last game I didn't even realize I was over 200 until after the second ball of the 10th frame. I hadn't been paying attention to my score at all. The third game is the best league score that I have to date in my Sunday night league.

Tuesday night scores: 159,214,182

The first game I was having trouble with my wrist brace and threw four open frames right off the bat. Put the brace back in the bag and things got a lot better.

Last week was pitiful, so I'll spare everyone having to read those scores. However, this week's scores have been a lot better. Sunday night's scores were 188, 168, 177, which are pretty good for me in that particular house. Tuesday night's scores were 220, 179, 224. I tensed up at the start of the second game and it took me about five frames to remember to relax.

Sunday night scores: 222, 232, 158

The lanes broke down really quickly at the beginning of the third game, and I didn't transition quickly enough. Left three or four opens in the first 5 frames.
