Won a Hellraiser Revenge here in one of the monthly drawings, and was thrilled as it was a ball I really wanted to own. Got around to drilling it a couple weeks ago, took it out to the lanes for a few games of practice then league night, all was well....bowled really well with it.

Today I looked in the bag and notice it's got a huge crack running from the thumbhole down, nearly 1/3 the way around the ball.

No abuse, was never in the cold, I watched the drilling it was done slowly and methodically...CRAP!

I contacted DV8, hopefully they take care of me but dang that's disappointing. I've never had a ball separate like this, not once.

As long as the hole was beveled there should be no warranty issues

The Nexxus I won on here my first week cracked this past Saturday. I had two Revenge's crack and DV8 replaced them. I sent pics of each ball and the serial numbers.

I had a ball crack when I left it in the garage during the winter, but I have never had a ball crack from normal use. In fact, I have never seen a ball that has cracked from normal use. So, I have to ask: What's up with these balls? Why are they cracking?

I can't imagine how ticked I would be if I was bowling a league session, doing well and then my ball came back cracked. I wouldn't care if it was under warranty; I want it to not crack IN THE FIRST PLACE. I wouldn't want a free ball if there was concern of it cracking. I wouldn't want a replacement for it either.

UPDATE: Sent the ball back to Bowlingball.com per DV8's instructions with a note asking them to drill it and match the layout, noting that I have no idea what they charge additional for a thumb plug and inserts so please contact me and I'll pay for these additional items and the drilling promptly.

They promptly replaced the ball, but I open the box to find a new ball that's not drilled, no note or mention of my request.

I hate to look a gift horse in the mouth, but this just keeps getting more stupid. Now I'm left with paying the local shop $50 to drill it again, so I'm up to $120 in expenses for a free ball. I could have bought the ball with drilling included from the local shop for $135 with drilling included.

Worse, I don't have the old ball to have it matched when I get the replacement drilled, and I'm not sure I trust the ball to stay in one piece now. Read several instances of these balls cracking, so I could be putting $50 towards another lemon.

Might just sell this one and buy locally and cut my losses. I still appreciate the prize, and the boards for the generosity. Not even a bad experience takes away from that!

There was an issue in the original casting of the balls with the coverstocks. They have been rectified. The two I had warrantied have been great since. I have more games on these than the original two with no ill effects.
As for getting an undrilled ball, seems like simple human error but that doesn't help out with your cost for a free ball.
