Has anyone heard of these things/bowl at an ally that uses them?

apparently its completely legal in the USBC and will inflate the averages at the center by greatly improving pin carry....
I don't know about anyone else, but this just seems like cheating, if i were to get my first 300 game only to find out the lanes had these installed i would feel like i didn't earn it.....

I will ignore that I just read this and watched the video.
I will also chalk it up to a gimmick that bowling alleys would try to increase bowling numbers.
Either way I did not see............ Memory erased!

I couldn't agree with you more on this subject.
I do not think it is fair to inflate a persons average in their home
center only for them to go to a tournament in another center and
find out that they are not as good of a bowler as they thought they
were to start with.
I know our center doesn't have them installed and I'm glad that
they don't as I want to earn any honor score(s) that I get on my
own without any artificial help.
I also hate bowling on the so called super easy THS and I'm glad
our center doesn't go with the flow and uses an U.S.B.C approved
modified THS that is much harder to bowl on than the normal THS
that most centers use now days.
There is a center about 40 or so miles from here that has Wahsam
installed and some of our bowlers go there once or twice a week to
bowl and they say they average at least 20 or so pins higher than here.
I say big whoop just wait until they go to a tournament and have to use
that higher average and get a lot lower handicap and can not score all
that good like they do bowling in the Wahsam center.

Ok, so while we are at it, lets make all golf courses flat, no hazzards. Lets make pitchers in baseball only allowed to throw changeups, all other pitches are banned, and make all fences 250 feet from the plate. In football, let's make it 11 players on offence, and 5 of defence. Basketball, 8 foot rims, and defensive players can't put thier hands above thier shoulders. Some things aren't supposed to be easy.
I understand why a center would do it, I can't tell you how many times I've heard idiots in my league complain about pin action. "How did I leave the 10 pin?" Ummm, cause you didn't throw the ball nearly as well as you thought you did. It's just easier to blame the lanes than blame yourself.
So a two handed, lefty, bowling on WAHSAM lanes should bowl a 300 ever single time.

People don't want to be told that it takes more than just hitting the pocket to get strikes all the time. There's more to it than that.
I'm pretty sure none of the four lanes I regularly bowl on have this. Seeing as pins sure as hell do not bounce out of the gutters, I can safely assume they aren't tampered with like this.

I'm not quite sure that will make as big a difference as the company wants us to believe... Call me a skeptic. It would still have to hit the gutter a certain way. I'm not saying it wouldn't help on occasion, but I think physics would prove this isn't as dramatic a difference as the video would make us believe.

Judging by the after video, I know why the PBA holds all the telecasts at the same lanes.....I'm betting it's installed there given some of the strange pin-flying they get.

Would it be as entertaining if they had lower scores and pins weren't flying all over the place?

That's what I'm talking about! Do you think it matters? Would they really have lower scores if they didn't have those, or higher scores if they did? I think most of it is just because they're professionals for a reason. There's a reason we don't get that kind of pin action, and we don't see it in our lanes often.
But, on the flip side, they STILL struggle on certain lane conditions. I don't think that device matters one bit for what they do, and if it matters for what WE do, then I think the difference would be minimal at best.
I'd love to see an actual physics study done on this.

i can see how this would be seen as cheating for serious bowlers but if you owned an alley, higher scores = more fun which = more people returning
