Our leagues have finished for the year, but I had a practice today and shot 176 in the first game. :P Averaged 196 or so over 8 games so a little under average. Had a few good games with IQ Tour Pearl.

and that marks the first 700 series of 2013 with a 722 now
if I can just repeat those scores and that series every league
night for the rest of the season that would make for a great
year of bowling. :D

Ohhh, pretty terribly! But, not as bad as I was expecting! 108, 125, 90-something.

I'm working on a predictable, stable approach and getting some rotation on the ball.

My thumb is torn up, though. Mom always told me I needed thicker skin ;)

Well, aside from the issue being 99.99% cane-induced, I did notice that the thumb is just a little bit loose. If I hold the ball by my side with no grip tension, the fingers stay in but my thumb will start to slide out, so I feel like I'm gripping the ball a bit when I throw. Maybe a few pieces of tape?

Not a great start. Missed 3 spares and shot 188. Managed a 234 and 209 the 2nd and 3rd for a 631. Only made 3 or 11 spares and had two pocket 7-10s. Lost my mojo for a bit there but survived. Will be working on right side spares a lot Friday night in practice.

Managed to get my league average to 205 on the button. Just need to stop acting like an idiot when I throw those 10 pin spares.

Yep sounds like you are knuckling the ball with your thumb which in turn makes
for a sore thumb (blisters,Claus's) try a piece or two of tape and see if that helps
and try to keep that thumb straight and relaxed.

Not as good as I had in practice on Tuesday night but
got the new year league score off to a decent start if it
hadn't been for those 10 pins and 4 pins in the second
game I might of had another 700 series.

1st. game 246
2nd. game 173
3rd. game 230
for a 649 series

Not as good as the 722 series in practice but still off to a
pretty good start for the new year.

My first score wasn't anything to write about since I'm not in a league yet, but my 9 year old son first league day back was today and his first game was a 151! It's his highest game so far and a big improvement since he started out in the league throwing games well under a 50.

First night back to league of the new year and the second half... Took out the newly drilled Arson Hybrid and shot awesome for me... Average 170 on league and been chasing a 600 series onleague and tonight was the night. First 600 series during league ever. I shot a 191 191 222 for a 604. Threw nothing but the Arson the whole time (its a double league) and used the freeze twice to pick off a ten pin. All in all a great start to the week and new year.

First league night of the year for me was hot. I bowled a 220, 214 and a 247 for a scratch 681 series. What a great start because league nights starting in September for
our league in 2012 was very mediocre at best. I thought that I would never bowl in my past best again. I knew I still had good games inside of me waiting to come out.

Hey purplepotatoe, those scores must have been bowled on THS oil pattern to get scores that high. Just kidding. The way I look at it is that no matter what pattern of oil be it THS, sport or PBA I still have to give that person credit for what they accomplished. You still have to know something about bowling to get a job like that done. I see typical house bowlers who can't even make it to the pins without
having the ball get to the gutter first. We have people on our league that have been bowling for years and only have a 115 average. You still have to put in the time and want to get better. So you buy your own bag, ball and shoes. You also find out from others what kind of ball works best on the alleys you will bowl on. Maybe you decide to go all out and take at least one lesson for an hour. Or maybe you buy bowling magazines that have good instruction or books because you have a passion for the game. I know I got hooked 26 years ago
and have never lost my passion for the game. There is nothing like the feeling when you throw your ball and you see those revs on the ball and suddenly your ball makes that move to the pocket and totals the pins. Then you are able to keep it up for the whole game and maybe get a score of 240. Now you are hooked because you know you can do it and you will want to do it again. Or maybe it is getting your first highest game of 170, 180, 190 or your first 200. Then you are hooked because you will want to go higher. That's what happened to me. I never got that 300 game but I did have a game with strikes in every frame except the 8th in which I got a spare. With a game like that I can't complain. I will bowl as long as my body will let me. I hope that will be for a while yet. Maybe that 300 is right around the corner.
