Put into words,,,, ( if it does not cause to much pain, and suffering), what you think life would be to YOU, without bowling!!! I will be awarding an imaginary gift to THE WINNER! I will be the sole judge, and the winner will be granted anything reasonable, that can be produced at the North Pole by imaginary elves!!!
Put it into words, make Santa feel the pain,,,, imagine,,, no more bowling as of NOW!!! burrrrrrrr,,,,, Santa/ICEMAN!!

Life would be simple. On any given day all that would be left is working until I'm about to drop then going home to listen to the wife complain, yell at her adult children who still expect her to do everything for them and the constant honey-dew list. The stress relieving sanctuary of bowling now gone, I would revert back to the way I was before. The lonely, dark days of VA shrinks trying to determine if I would snap and become a mass murderer. The PTSD controlling me instead of me controlling it ruin any life I happen to cross. All because I couldn't hurl a 15 pound, round object at 4 pound sticks. To hear the sickening thud of a DV8 produced object of destruction driving through the wooden sticks, sending them flying in every direction.

We wouldn't know. There are countless things that dont exist, so do we miss them? Humans are adaptable by nature, there would be something else.

I would be an empty hollow shell...rocking and clutching myself as I mumble gibberish. Every once in a while I would longingly look at round objects and imagining them gracefully arcing into imaginary pins....then it would get warm and I would have golf...and be OK....until it got cold again...as cold as my soul would be without bowling.

howd I do.

YOU KNOW, I never thought about curling!!!! I think that sport could be a good replacement!! I remember having it on one of my game stations, and LOVED it!! Close to bowling, and in some ways much more skill needed, and NO Ringing TEN PINS!!!! LOL

Life without bowling would be BORING! How would I relieve stress and laugh my *** of watching drunk people bowl. I would miss the comaraudery(sp?)I get with my fellow bowlers, not to mention the help they give me on improving my game. No bowling means miniture golf and that by far is more stressfull trying to get a ball into a hole, then getting a ball into a pocket. My world would be shattered without bowling for bowling is my life and will always will be for as long as I can bowl.

Dig, deep my brothers.....deep into your soul,,,, to that area where bowing resides, and from the heart, tell Iceman what it would really be like without bowling in your life!! I want to feel your PAIN!!

Pressure mounting, like an elephant on your chest. Each breath is harder to take in than the last. Slow, ever so slow, the darkness creeps into your heart. Cold ice fills your veins. Like the sun setting and the darkness creeps in, the memories of glory past, of ringing ten pins, powerful strikes, all vanish from your memory. Nothing left but dark, cuel, ever hating sense of dread.

Sorry Mike, but but there are enough real life horrors, I refuse to contemplate imaginary ones.

I may not be doing everything that I can to keep this great game/sport going for future generations, but I am doing something.

This isn't imaginary for me! I had a total left hip replacement on December 28th and won't be cleared for bowling until September when the league starts again. Right now, I'm at home alone because my wife went bowling. So if the question is what would YOU do if bowling didn't exist, the answer is live vicariously through others who do. If there were no such thing as bowling, I'd have to find another way to fill the hours.

How about less depressing thoughts and more talk about bowling instead of what it would be without bowling. Let's appreciate what we have than to think of what it would be like without.

On a semi-related note, many years ago ('80s) I asked the question... If you would never get another strike for the rest of your life no matter how well you threw the ball, how long would you continue bowling?

I mean how much disappointment can you put up with?

Random Positive Reinforcement. Hey, I must have actually learned something in one of the psychology classes I took at UCONN!

Seriously, If you knew you'd never throw another strike, you'd probably quit right away. Likewise, if you're a serious bowler expecting to improve, you would probably quit after a number of games with no strikes. But, if you're a casual bowler, who is used to getting strikes randomly, you'll go much longer since you're always hoping but never really expecting a strike.

Commanding officer. My father was an abusive alcoholic. Mother was a manipulative, guilt trip giving psycho. Them splitting up was the best thing that could have happened to my brother and I. Luckily he was young enough to not realize how poor we were. I stayed in school but worked full time since 12 and have worked steadily since age 8 just to try to help out. But my upbringing was not really different than anybody else's. We've all had our share of hardships and dysfunctions.
It's not the tragedy that defines who we are as a person but how we handle the tragedy. --- An excerpt from the eulogy I gave at my granddaughters memorial service and something I really believe.

I'm going through getting a security clearance right now. They kept asking people what I did in my spare time and everyone just responded that I bowl...a lot. Pretty accurate. I bowl nearly every day since I've got nothing else to do with my life at the moment.

My security clearance took quite awhile. Seems that an uncle I didn't associate with was involved with organized crime. When they asked me about Francisco, I said "who?" It was my grandfather's brother. I think I saw hime 3 times in my entire life. Luckily I finally obtained my clearance.

Sorry I just hate thinking negative like this. Why should we debate something that will not happen? It is like sitting around wondering what life would have been like if you married the "other" girl. In the end it gets you nowhere. I try to stay positive and think only about what I have and how I can get better. Banter and discussion is good, I just don't see anything good from this thread.

Scotty, (this is just a make believe thread)! We all know that bowling will be here until the power grid goes down! I doubt when getting power back the leaders will say: “ make sure them bowling lanes are up and operating!”

I just wanted to find out Scott, how much LOVE IS THERE in the bowler for bowling, and would it be as bad to some as it would be to others?
Get where I am coming from?? Are you happily married? Was there another girl? Tell me you have never thought about it! All women and men have regardless of how happily they are married!
This web site, in my humble opinion scott, should cover all aspects of bowing including the fact that one day in the near future it might not be there!!! many military types saying that an attack on the Power Grid could happen in the near future!! I just wonder how this would effect many of my fellow bowlers!
Thanks for your thought Scotty, and I hope it doesn’t bother you that I am an inquisitive person, and care deeply for all my fellow bowlers! BE PREPARED for any and all circumstances, both physically, and mentally!

Scott ,,, what was that other girls name…………come on,,,, everyone if THEY ARE HONNEST, have thoughts about “THE GIRL THAT GOT AWAY”! Or might have been! I am sure my wife thinks that every morning when she looks at me!
Of all sad words of tongue or pin, the saddest are these,, what might have been!

I have enough love of this sport to never think of a day that it doesn't exist. I think that sums it up, I would never want to think of the day where we didn't have bowling.

And for the record there was a few other girls! ;)

I finished up a the gym early and stopped by the lanes to do a quick practice game last night, but leagues were still in session, so no lanes available. I walked around and watched the leagues play. Here it is Tuesday night and instead of at the club or the bar, I am at the lanes checking out the action.

(different kind of action, wiseguy. Cheking out the bowling, not the bowlers :) )

If I had nothing else to do, I would be content to watch the bowling for a while.

HOW would it be without bowling, now that I have touched its sexy pins, and felt its inviting lure! I dream of bowling in ways that I cannot even put into words and keep at a G rating! Its more than love of a sport,,,, its much deeper,,, it runs deep into my psyche, my soul, my design, its my intendment!

A 300 game, or 800 series is like,,,, LIKE climbing a mountain that few have ever climbed! Its like that first kiss, back when you were young and in love with the girl next door! It’s like jumping on a rocket and shooting into space!!

To be without bowling would be like no toy in cracker boxes, a beautiful plate with no food on it, a jack in the box, without Jack, a Twinkie without that deep rich white creamy filling, life would be empty,,, bare,, , stark, vacant, destitute, null, bad, invalid, did I say null and void???,,,hollow,,, an empty cavity,, a black hole, vacuous, blackness!! Bowling is my LIFE, God HELP ME, and maybe Jason and Manic too!!
