Aggressive "hooky" bowling ball

I am looking for a very aggressive bowling ball with lots of hook but for a style player that i can best describe as ball kinda glide out then hook. Im thinking maybe tweener. Slow medium ball speed and slow to med revs. Im having trouble on HEAVY oil lanes and it gliding out but not hooking back at all!!! as of lately but its cuz there is more oil then usual. When its not bad my ball works really well but its a medium oil ball. Any suggestions? storm sync, defiant soul, brunswick aura, maybe a dv8. anything to help me out on heavy conditions. Thanks

i had the same problem and got my self a motiv 2 cruel even with low revs the ball is insane! at high revs it snaps back in the last second. a really forgiving ball if you throw to far out by accident.

I have a Brunswick neXus Solid(500 abralon) and Roto Grip Defiant(1000 abralon) that hooked just right on heavy oil. I also played the Rule of 31,which is you take the length of oil pattern say 44' and you subtract 31 and your break point(Where the ball will start it's break to pocket(Hope thats right)which is 11 board.

Other choices are-Brunswick Aura,Roto Grip Defiant Soul,Storm Sync-Vivid-!Q or Lucid,900 Global bullet or Freight train,DV8 Nightmare or Hell Raiser Revenge,Track 912T,Motiv Raptor Talon or maybe Columbia Mass Chaos.

But yeah I think the balls you listed are great options. maybe move your feet right. You should watch Curlie bowl he seems to be an ideal person to watch by the way you describe your bowling style.

yeah my style is VERy similar to his! and when my ball dont hook i play between the 1st and 2nd arrow.

Thanks for the replies. I was gonna get the aura for xmas from my gf but then i started looking at balls again BIG MISTAKE! i saw all the new balls coming out this month lol. What about the aura paranormal? I know it aint out yet but i seen the video on there site and thought maybe that one. what u think?

Close. Rule of 31 is pattern length minus 31 for the board to EXIT the oil pattern at, not breakpoint. so at 44' you want your ball on the 13 board in your example. Breakpoint will vary depending on the bowler's style, rev rate, speed, etc..

If you are looking for a ball that will skid then hook back hard, you may want to think about a Critical Theory. This ball hits very hard. I have also heard great things about the DV8 balls and their Nightmares look like they would fit the bill for you...

I had looked at the dv8 balls and couldn't figure out which i would even consider or what would work best for me. I need to stop looking and get one already. more i wait more balls come out and then im more confused then i am now lol would the aura paranormal be a better (more aggressive)ball then the aura? Seeing that was my first choice. The ball i throw now is polished so i figured MAYBE hang onto that one when its medium to dry conditions cuz thats when my current ball works best and get a good aggressive, sanded, heavy oil ball for those heavy oil nights.

Any of the heavy oil balls will be better than what you're using now for heavy oil. Get whichever one you want.

that is completely true. with all things not just bowling.....BUT i used to have a Ebonite Nitro R 2 Purple that was my dads and man that thing had some serious hook (for me anyways) wish i never got rid of it now

So on my monday night league the pro shop owner was there and i talked to him before i started and i described my bowling method to him. Guess its called a skid/flip (he asked me if its a skid/flip and i said idk and he explained it and i was like yeah sounds like me) So when we started he came and watched a couple shots. He asked what balls i been looking at and i gave the list and he said he thinks the dv8 brutal nightmare would be best from my list of choices....Funny thing he said have you ever watch bowling videos online on bowlingball.com. I siad yeah. And he brought up curlie and said I have VERY similar style to him. i seen the video of him using the new brutal nightmare and man that thing makes a aggressive move at the break point for him. So i think that will be my new ball really soon :-)

Now I just tell him the specs and he drills it. I call with the info then pick it up when he says it will be ready. I'm there less than ten minutes for a ball now (not counting the hours talking and laying balls out)

Yeah, up until about a few months ago i didnt know there was different drilling patterns for different style bowlers. My driller never asked questions. So i let him look at mine and my ball before that and he said the were both drilled for big/max hook. The person who drilled those balls never asked me any questions or anything. just my hand and finger measurements and drilled it. So since he seen me bowl i showed him the layouts from the dv8 site and he suggested i go with The big flip layout. But ultimately its up to me and what i want out of the ball....So we will see soon! Cant wait

I purchased the brutal nightmare today!!! I cant wait to get it and get it drilled. Let you all know how it works out or doesn't work out lol
