We had our second position round in my Tuesday night league earlier tonight, and despite losing 3 out of the 4, I finally got a clean game.... In fact, it was a pretty clean night. I bowled a 181, 202, 187 series and only had three open frames during the first two games. The third game (the 187) was 100% clean (including a strike on the 3rd ball in the 10th), it just seemed almost impossible to strike and I only had three that game. All in all, it was a good night and I averaged 190 which will be good enough to keep me in first place on the most improved average list.

Nice job! I'm sure there'll be more of those to come! :)

Very nicely done Nick!

Now go for the clean set! Surprisingly tough! Some of my highest series have included open frames & I have to say a clean set feels very satisfying, especially if you're finding it difficult to carry as it would seem from your comments.

Keep it up!

Sean :)

Nick, you could strike. You just wanted to work on your spare game....
Good job!!

Nice job. A set of three games with only two or three opens is very satisfying. If you have only spares with just a few strikes in three games you can't feel bad about not getting more strikes because you end up with three good games. Opens are bad because you lose 10 pins for each one. Getting all spares in every frame is good because you get spare practice and you can get a possible 190 game. And that ain't too shabby.

Nice Job. That's such a good series because you were picking up what you left without a lot of strikes. It's a good demonstration of skill.

I finally got my 1st clean game by turkeying out the 10th 2 months ago.

Thanks for the words of encouragement, guys. I had another great night in league tonight; had four open frames, but I was striking a lot, and shot a 627 series (only my second 600 series ever)!!!! I wish I could convert some of this Tuesday night success into something similar on Sunday nights... different houses, and apparently my equipment doesn't match up as well as my Tuesday night house.
