Hey, I collected these homes with bowling alleys from real estate listings across the country. Turns out the White House isn't the only American home with a few lanes in the basement. http://blog.estately.com/2013/01/8-american-homes-with-exceptional-bowling-alleys/

#4 is my favorite.
Last time I checked it cost about $120,000 to have a pair of lanes and equipment installed in a house. That was with all new equipment. It may be more now, but with the economy collapse I kind of doubt it.
I checked through these guys: Murrey Bowling (http://www.murreybowling.com/Murrey_Bowling/Murrey_Bowling_Equipment_Manufacturers_and_General _Contractors.html)

ok i got to say #7 can not be worth 5million it has to be more but if it is 5million i will defiantly take it .
#2 is nice has alot of things that i like one the kitchen looks great but the house is alittle to white only thing i likened was the home theater i would be in there if i was not bowling lol but one down fall that left lane looks alittle to close to the wall and i would hit it every time with my foot if i worked on opening up the lane.
#4 a few good things and a few bad things couple bad things are some areas are to enclosed not big enough but the good parts i like is a gym in the house defiantly the bowling ally the down stairs bar area where the pool table is,also has a home theater, nicely big kitchen, decent back yard.
ok and #5 this home has more bad then good well bad first. the rooms are small but then when you look threw all the pictures in the house you can see every room is a different color thats not good so the place would have to be repainted in most rooms to reflec the rooms near it. good things, home theater, bowling ally, nice backyard.

Anyone else thinking we just need to pool our money and turn #7 into a Bowlingboards mansion where we all go live?

Interestingly, it looks like only the last one (which is the most spartan) is set up for someone who is serious about bowling....the ball selection gives that away.
Most of the others look very recreational.

They are all to small. :p
At least number 3 has some arcade games in it which is what I would do too. I see a centipede and a mrs pacman for sure. There is also a pinball at the end and possibly a golden tee or silver strike bowling machine. It's hard to tell what it is, but the shape is right for one of those.
We have a house right down the road from us that has a bowling alley in the basement and there is a bar for sale that has some duckpin lanes in the upstairs. It's not 10pin, but it's still bowling.

I like the one with 4 lanes. I am not a wall huger. Last night lane 1 was available and I let the party behind me take it. Something about the end lanes that I just don't like.

why do you say that? if it's just the balls, then that's probably for guests to bowl, the lanes look fine and i would love to have any of them lol

If you had a bowling alley, and were a serious bowler, I strongly suspect there would be some fingertip good balls in the rack at any given time, especially if you're photographing it.
I would bet few of the owners are serious bowlers except the last guy. I know a guy who has one in his basement (and a shooting range), and it's the same way...he built it because he's very rich and wants a lot of toys. Can't bowl (or shoot) for crap.

If you have a pool then you have your Pool Boy.
If you have a bowling pit in your home, do you have a Bowl Boy?

My favorite is number 4. I like the lounge/bar are right next to the lanes. However, if you are going to have a bowling alley in the basement, you have to have at least 4 lanes, preferably 6. If you have the money for 2 lanes, you have the money for 6 lanes. However it is highly doubtful any of these people really bowl. They just go down there and screw around when they are bored, or are having a party. They all sit around drinking Martinis, and go sown there and just throw a 10 pound ball straight at the headpin, and wonder why they can't get a strike. Then they take out a $100 bill and mysteriously all the pins fall down, and the midget behind the pins is $100 richer.

Any one of them would be nice to own...but 3 has nice appeal and of course with 7 you could have leagues.

Back in Australia in '95, I ran into a 16 year old young man with a wicked hook and awesome speed. He was the Queensland Junior champion. I learned his Dad was a grade 1 coach and they had a lane under their house he grew up in.
Go figure.
