So many of you active members saw my pro shop thread, and my what ball should I get thread. I've made both decisions, now the final one. Once my marauder gets here, do I go with inserts or just have him drill the finger holes out and use them bare? Anyone have significant experience with both methods?

Pay the extra money and get the finger tips. Also ask your pro for his suggestions. I asked the same question to my pro and he said to use inserts and man are they comfortable!

I use fingertip grips and enjoy it. I would say pay the extra. Well worth it.

Question Viking.

On the first night with my new ball, a small piece of grip pealed off, looks like a finger nail cliping. I was wondering if it had to do with the towel grabbing on to it while I was spinning the ball or if there is something else going on.

Thoughts?

Go with grips! They will give extra lift.

My new ball comes today, and I am going without grips. Now, I throw 2 fingers, but I was thinking of doing the same on my new balls for my thumb as well. The good thing, if you go bare, and you don't like it, you can always have the holes opened up and put grips in. If you go grips first, and want to change, you have to plug, and redrill the ball.

Probably wear and tear from the ball return.

I don't know. Should I worry? I can always get them replaced

I had that happen with my new ball also. was right on the edge of the grip. I just assumed the grip had gotten pinched between part of the lane equipment and the ball and it pinched hard enough to cut the soft rubber grip material.

No, you really can't just expand the holes and put grips in. There is a difference in span if you do that.

Should I bring it to the attention of the service desk? Probably not I guess. I will keep an eye on it and if it gets worse then maybe it is a defective plug?

Your right, you would have to plug at least one hole. I forgot, they put them closer together without grips.

I would rather wear out a grip than the ball. Keep in mind, I do get a lot of lift though. Also, the ball only does tear at the fingers more and a little trickier to get a perfect fit.

I used my Frantic, with no grips for 2 games last night. I liked it. Maybe it's because I don't grip the ball hard with my fingers because I don't use my thumb, so my fingers are more of a guide. I've seen a few guys who use there thumb but don't use grips. They use a little tape for protection, and fit, and they love it. I'll bowl more games with it tonight and see how I feel.

I have watched your videos bill... I actually have more hand and lift than you do so grips would probably be best...
