Hello BowlingBoards, just thought I would introduce myself. I am a beginner bowler in the sense that while I bowled for the first time more than 30 years ago, I have never been serious about bowling and have never owned a bowling ball until a couple of weeks ago. The first ball ended up being an Ebonite Maxim Red/Orange/Yellow which I picked up at one of my local pro shops and had fitted and drilled the same day. So far, just one outing with the new ball and it goes as straight as they said it would when I purchased it. I was getting some hook with the house balls, but the Maxim is doing exactly what I want it do as eventually it will become my spare ball when I pick up a strike ball.

I probably will never advance beyond being a recreational bowler, but I am looking forward to bowling more often in the future. I used to golf quite a bit, but eventually decided that I did not have enough time to practice enough to stay as good as I desired to be and with the local 9 hole course closing a few years ago, 18 hole rounds were taking up too much time on my days off. Bowling is something that you can do with almost anyone or group of people, in any weather, day or night, and get enough games played in under 2 hours to be a great recreational activity without taking up half the day.

I am looking forward to being a member of the BowlingBoards.

Thank you for the warm welcomes. Just got back from rolling 6 games this morning with the Maxim. Knee doesn't need icing like last time, thankfully, and I had a few rolls just felt right today, the kind you just know are going to strike as soon as you release the ball. Lots of work left to do on the game, but at least it was fun.
