Hi all, my name is Bob. I've been a bowler pretty much since I was able to push a ball down the lanes. I bowled throughout my youth and into early adulthood. I got burnt out on bowling about 15 years ago, only bowling occasionally with friends. When I was bowling regularly, I averaged in the 190's and managed to bowl two 300 games and a 290. This was back in the 1990's when I was much younger...lol.

I recently started up league bowling again this past summer. I have not been able to get to the level I used to be, averaging in the mid-high 160's. I currently throw a Brunswick Zone. I used to be more of a cranker, but now that old age has caught up to me I have issues with pain in my wrist. So now I wear a brace and would be considered more of a tweener, I guess.

I'm looking to upgrade my ball, but really unsure where to go. I probably don't need the latest and greatest, yet I don't wish to compromise on quality. Any suggestions on a ball are welcome. I have been doing my research and plan to talk to the guy at the pro shop tomorrow before league.

Anyway, just glad to be on board here and look forward to your responses.

Welcome to the boards!

The Brunswick zone balls are plastic right? (don't know much about the older stuff lol)

An entry to mid performance ball would probably be a good start, if you like Brunswick, the Slingshot, Karma Solid, Ringer, or DV8 Misfit are all right in that range.

No, It's a reactive resin. I bought it before I quit bowling a few years ago. This is the one:

It's almost 20 years old though!

Oh ok, well all the balls i listed above would be a bit stronger than the zone, which might give you more of the overall hook you had before you went cranker to tweener.

Hi, and welcome to the boards!

In regards to a ball, anything from Storm's Hot or Thunder lines is usually a good midrange choice that won't break the bank and still be effective. I can't say too much about other companies, so be sure to look into those as well.
