hey guys today at bowling i was throwing my 14lb ball and i was throwing it too fast where it was not hook that well.

but then when i grabed my only 15lb ball my c300 freeze i could not even hold it in the backswing my backswing was getting to short and felt like 100lb on my arm
so if anyone knows anything why this could be and what i could do to help it because im planning on getting a new ball eather the :"hammer first blood" or "storm sync" or maby another c300 ball.

and also at bowling when i went to throw my 15lb ball my approach was messed like my left leg would not go forward at the right pace it was slowing down and if i tryed going alittle faster i lose all strength in my arm and eather pull the ball or drop it and put no revs on it at all.

so if anyones got any idea on how to fix this please share and what to do to help fix it.

Sorry Striker, I don't have a clue as to what's going on. One pound more in weight, while noticeably heavier, shouldn't feel twice as heavy, let alone seven times heavier.

All I can think of for the problem with your footwork is that you were too focused on the problem with the swing that feet slowed down.

I would suggest that you go back and read some of the posts on changing speeds and next time the ball is just blowing through the breakpoint, use one of those methods to slow the ball down.

thanks john i will take a look into them and i will print some off so i can keep them handy to read over while bowling.

and probly my feet was probly because of the problem with the swing like i could hold it at the start easly but when i get into a swing the ball would go down but i could not get it too go backwards at all and i did the hinge swing and push away

Hey Striker, I guess I'd have to see how you used to step, start your backswing, slide, lift and release as compared to now.
It sounds to me an adjustment in one or two (maybe three) of those areas could be the cause to your effect.
But as I said, its a guessing game without seeing you bowl. Best of Luck. I'm sure you'll work it out.

To me it sounds a lot like the timing would be a mental thing. Knowing that you're throwing a heavier ball could change things. My only guess about the heaviness of the ball would be that it doesn't fit your hand properly. Proper fitting makes all the difference. But that's all just a guess

Definitely hard to tell. How about a video?

the ball fits my hand got in jan of 2012 and all my other balls are drilled the same.

heres a video of part of the swing the approach is still the same backswing just a little different instead of my hand being on the outer side of the ball going to the inside my hand in now on the inside of the ball and at the start of the video i am throwing 14lb balls and at about half way and all spare shots is with a 15lb ball i did have some bad shots but this is video is from a crap bowling alley where i'm not stander where i normaly do.

in the video my balance was a issue back then but its better now other then when this happened i have not had a probly till today and i'm still bowling the same as i have for the past while also my throw is not as fast anymore its just a little slower but i will get a new video on as soon as i can to compare the differences of the video but in the next video at the start i will throw it as i was happening today and near then throw it the way i should be.

I'm glad you said that this video was shot "before" you made changes to your balance and foot speed. I was getting ready for a "slow down and get balanced" thread. Send us a new video so we can see the changes.

I also use different weight balls. This can work to your advantage on some conditions you'll run into. To slow down when you're using the 14# ball slow your feet down, raise the ball in your stance about 6". That should lower your back swing and your feet should get there at the same time. Be sure "NOT" to use any muscle from the time you take that first step until the ball is next to your slide foot. That's your "explosion Point" . Not the entire swing. THINK SMOOOOOOOOTH.

As a rule of thumb, "If you fall to the right, your feet are too fast. Fall to the left and your feet are too slow" Remember this when you bowl. Usually if you slow your first step down just a hair that will slow you down. Some people might take me to task on this, but I believe it's easier to slow your feet than your armswing. So keep the arm swing alone, and adjust your foot speed. If you think about the motion of your body in relation to the ball swing, you'll see where it makes sense to do this. When your feet are too fast, YOU are getting there before your ball and you have to PULL the ball through with your arm, throwing you off balance.

thanks bob i just wrote this down on some paper to keep this in mind and read over it more, i do fall to the right sometimes and the rest i normaly stand up to soon but i cant really put much pressure on my left ankle because of what last season of me hitting my ankle with my spare ball.

Yeah that really hurts. I think we've all done that at one time or another. If it's something that typically worries you while you're bowling, buy an ankle wrap at CVS or Walgreens and use it for protection. I noticed on your last step/slide you lean quite far to the right. That position will typically put the ball further away from your slide foot, but if it's too far out you run the risk of pulling the ball unintentionally. For instance if you slide on 20, your ball should be hovering over the 10 - 15 board at the bottom of your swing.

yeah it is a problem to me because i dont want to hit my ankle again and i was the stupid one to keep walking on it at the time and still bowled the next day because i was in a turnny but i never felt no pain till 2 weeks later live and learn, yeah im trying to get it in abit so then i dont keep pullibng the ball because i do the abit and trying to stop it, but its better then it use to be where i use to pull the ball at least 5 frames a game but not i pull it maby 3 times over 3 games not including spare shots where i need to work on spares.

Im no expert but your follow thru is all over the place. I've never seen anyone move their arm side to side or in a circle. Your spare shot follow thru looks much easier on your arm. Ik u are somewhat of a cranker but it appears u are muscling the ball. Your arm is not relaxed. Its tense thru the whole swing. Its difficult to repeat the exact muscle movements repeatedly. I don't shoot anything like you so Idk if a cranker is supposed to muscle the ball everytime. Just seems hard to repeat.

if you read under the video this video is old not the way i bowl anymore but reason for arm swinging so much was getting use to arm being lose and free but also because of my shoulder my arm can not go full back and forth i will get a updated video on just need to edit it and put all of them together the video i have is of last satiday when i got 8 in a row and got a 234 game.
