He bowls like my cousin... I like Jones style also, he is a Cranker for sure... In one of the shots I thought the ball was about to fall into the gutter:)

And that DV8 Hellraiser is a sweet looking ball. I have bowled with Storm ball since I was 19, maybe I need to look at some other stuff for a change:)

Back in the days of wood lanes the manager would escort you out the door for lofting that far. Only the first 15' of the lane and the pin deck were maple. From 15' to 60' was soft pine and those shots would be leaving dents in the lane. Of course back then every one of those shots would have been a gutter ball too.

I miss bowling on wood lanes! I've only bowled on two, and it was years ago. There was an alley in Arabi Louisiana where the lanes were wood and they were oiled by hand, and Mid-City lanes in New Orleans which became a pretty big nightclub once they started the rock-n-bowl routine with live bands. They also had above-lane ball returns. That's where my high school league met each week.

Nothing to do with this thread, but yeah I miss wood lanes.

Yeah I would rather be like the guys who consistently do it. And those guys are WRW, Duke and Bohn. So much easier and more predictable to play only half the lane instead of coast to coast. It looks great but if you watch this years PBA shows other than the lefties most guys play a more down and in shot.

Don't make the game anymore harder than it is, I too wanted to go coast to coast but it is too much hit and miss. The accuracy required to play coast to coast is ridiculous.

Unfortunately I look more like this one

And don't bowl nearly as well as either one.

Im also a Cranker. The bad thing with us is light oil lanes really suck for us. By the second game Im lofting over the left gutter past the arrows because I have too. After that I have to move right and be a tweener and start leaving ringing 10's.

The fun about being a cranker is pissing off left handed bowlers because we burnout there heads on the left side of the lane. ;)

Norm Duke makes it look easy. No coast to coast just more or less straight up and one heck of a bunch of messenger pins. It seems like the straight up technique is easier to control for pocket hits the the coast to coast style which covers a lot of territory and needs more accuracy to get stringing strikes.

Thats ok, it was on the left side.... screw lefties :)

I don't worry about playing straight or deep inside as much as I worry about playing the lanes the way they should be played. If I see a lot of friction in the midlane, I'll play deeper left. That helps me get the ball right, but it will still hook. If the lanes are slick, I play as straight to the pocket as I can, often straight up 10 or 12 or farther right if there's a little friction. Mike's form looks cool and all, but I'm sure he doesn't play that way on every condition he bowls on. Norm and WRWJ can play the lanes straight, but there are some conditions that just don't really condone playing straight. WRWJ has bowled deep inside and has even bowled "2 handed" (Don't believe me? Look it up on youtube.)
