A team mate of mine (from my Monday night league) hated his Brutal Nightmare. The ball hooked too much of him. The fellow is a good bowler who averages just under 210 and he is pretty speed dominant. I would call him a classic "down and in" player.

Long story short, he sold it to me for $70 and it has less than 10 games in it. It is now at my favorite pro shop getting plugged and drilled and I can't wait to pick it up Monday! I am having it drilled pin down and about an inch to the right of my ring finger. No sure of how this translates out in a dual angle format, but I will find out...

Good deal. I'm surprise he just didn't change the finish.

Do you have good speed like the guy you got the ball from? If not maybe you should have the ball drilled with the pin above your ring finger or above your middle finger. With the pin down if you had some trouble with too much hook you can always work the surface to make it do what you want it to. Good luck.

When last I checked, my ball speed was just under 17MPH at the pin deck which means it is approx. 19 MPH leaving my hand. Granted, my rev rate is nearly double his, so I having it drilled in a manne trhat should be forgiving yet still plenty aggressive. Can't wait to try it!

Pin up/pin down really does mean squat when attempting to translate to a dual angle layout. Given my short PAP (3 7/8"> 1/8^) and the fact I prefer a pin to PAP distance of 4" puts most of my pins above the fingers, even the earlier reading balls. My Diva has a 40° drill angle while the Misfit is 70°. Diva pin is just above the fingers while the Misfit is way above the fingers. If we all had the same PAP then up and down would translate easier.
The pin and CG use to use a common vertical line in relation to the grip. With the way a dual angle layout works it deviates from that standard to help create a more custom ball reaction.

I just used my Brutal Nightmare for the first time today, it does hook a ton, but man does it even pick up speed once it hits the dry, it hammers the pins. Once I find a consistent spot I am pretty sure my average will climb. I tend to leave the 10 pin up a lot, and I was noticing that this ball was consistently sending a pin across the lane towards the 10 pin, which is good to see. It is a huge difference from my C-System, probably hooks twice as much and much later too. I think on dry lanes the brutal nightmare might be unusable lol

Okay, got her drilled and its off to league action tonight. If I like this as much as I like my Too Reckless then I will be a happy camper...

Well, are you as happy of a camper as I expect?

I'll chime in that it is a great ball! I use it as my first ball on fresh oil and it does hook! After a couple of games though I go to my C300 Mass Eruption which is by far my favorite ball!

I use the BN and even though I have only been bowling for about 3 months, I am happy with what I can do with the ball. I am not a great bowler, but I have managed to get my average up from 140's to 180's. With a high game of 244. I just need to get consistant and let my ball do the rest! Overall the ball works good for me. I have the pin over my index finger with a weight hole drilled to the right of my finger holes.

This ball is killer. Carries well and it hooks controllably and consistently. Really hits hard and then carries tens well.

I would love to see how the brutal nightmare compares to the original Nightmare...

How would you compare the Reign of Power to the Brutal Nightmare? I am considering both for the first ball out of the bag on league night.

I would suggest to you that the ROP would be a better benchmarking ball...
