Tried out the new Brutal Nightmare last night. I would love to say I shot the lights out but I did not - but not because of the ball. I have the ball laid out at 45 x 4.75 x 70 for a quick revving ball reaction that will provide a controllable (though big) hook. It took me some time to get accustomed to the reaction as I normally like to circle the heads a little. I tried different hand positions for a couple of games before I settled in during the third game. Because of this the ball was burning up early in game one and two and I left a slew of 10 pins - missing all but two of them. I stumbled to a 201 and a 182. The third game i moved LEFT - 9 boards left with my feet and 4 boards with my eyes. Playing in more oil really brought out the Brutal Nightmare's teeth. This ball has a load of striking power and it LOVES a low-flush hit. Ended with a 2 open 235 game that included a gutter ball on my last ball of the game....

Jay, it sounds like the ball is good when used right. I see a lot of guys with heavy oil balls trying to play down and in from the 2nd arrow. I like that you gave it a good test of different things and you finally found where it shines.

The biggest thing I find with people is using too much ball for a THS. I have a buddy who uses a Storm lucid and tries to play the right side of the lane and will never move left. I joke with him that he is better suited to play horseshoes at this point than bowling as he lofts the ball so much even in game 1.

Thanks Jay for the honest ball test and basically showing that certain balls are meant for certain conditions or shot types.
