Two alleys near me are closing for the summer, and a 3rd one is cutting down to 4 days a week.

I guess nobody bowls during the summer.

Our center usually closes on Sundays during the summer. This year they went to closing Sundays and Mondays. It really sucks for those of us that do bowl daily.

That's crazy. It's mega hot In Oklahoma in the summer so it's the perfect time to bowl. Gets you out if the house and not out in the heat ;)

There's an AMF center in Webster, about 45 min. from me, that has bowling all summer for $35. You get two games a day for that amount and extra games are $1.50. My wife and I bowl almost every day all summer. That's $35 for both of us.

Our alleys suffer from poor attendance in the summer, but they do stay open. The leagues are usually pretty thin, but they offer a lot of stuff for the ones they have....cheap practice, lots of prizes (balls usually), and the one I'm starting tonight gives away a 2-night, 3-day vacation that's pretty sweet. I think more houses need to learn how to sweeten the attraction if you're going to compete with kids sports, vacations, etc. Short leagues, great prizes and they need to adve

Mine closes on Sundays. The league I'm on you get four games for $10 linage (winter it's $9.75 for 3 games), plus a $225 (you pay $210 over the course of the league) certificate for the pro shop. Open bowling is a dollar per game all during the summer if you sign up for a league. Overall, it's not bad and since I like to bowl anyway, it's a win-win for me.

My daughter and I wanted to bowl today...could have if we wanted to drive 30 miles to an open center. This time next year I will have my own key then it won't matter :D

My local center has a problem with their A/C. Now granted this is Seattle where it seldom gets hot in the summer but 80 outside can make it pretty steamy inside that bowling center. Last week in my spring league it was sweltering in there and they had to break out the giant floor fans. Unless they address that issue, I can't see them having too much success this summer.

Our center really suffers during the summer months but it stays
open 7 days a week but with reduced hours on opening time and
then on the closing time some nights it just depends on how many
are in there bowling on how late it stays open.

Both hear my house stay open all summer with cut back hours. Definitely don't get the same turn out, but I enjoy the quiet lanes. I am really hoping for a PBA experience league next summer.

I have never understood that mind set. Now that everything has a/c bowling should be a year round sport. And with school out what better place than a nice, clean bowling alley to send the kids during the day. Owners and managers need to change the mindset of their customers so that bowling in the summer is as much fun as in the winter.

My local AMF its the same thing, they have only two giant huge floor fans that don't really help at all. I call it Bikram Bowling. Since they filed for chapter 11 I don't see them getting the AC fixed any time soon and every time I've been in there so far it's been pretty dead (probably because people don't want to do bikram bowling).

You need to form a bowling and yoga league. # games of bowling followed by a Yoga class
