Im in the middle of fleshing out my own tourney and I wanted to get some input on handicap. Most tournys are 90% of 220. I never really liked that cause it makes it so easy for the baggers to get a leg up. On the other hand its of course not fair to the people that are actually trying their hardest to maintain there 170 avg. So I was wondering if I could get an opinion from the community on what would be fair.

Something like 90% of 200 sounds reasonable to me. Everyone still gets sticks, except for the guys/gals that don't need them anyways, and we close that gap a little.

Opinions and ideas would be much appreciated.

I like 90% of 200 but cap it at something like 30 pins

I like that. I had thought of that but was thinking more around 40 pins. I want some of the baggers to show up and learn their lesson. :D

True but a 170 avg would be getting 27 pins. Capping it at 40 would still give the big baggers some pins they don't deserve. Besides, a true 158 avg bowler probably shouldn't be able to win anyway.

True. And if they do win I suppose they would deserve it. Would making it 90% of 190 be a little extreme? I know I talked about not scaring baggers away but just curious.

At 90 of 190 you might scare away the true 170 and 180 bowlers too though. Each area is different so it's hard to say about where you're at. Here, we have trouble getting the 210 and up guys to try any handicap tourneys. Too bad most of them aren't nearly as good as they think they are lol

ya true about scaring them away. We have the same problem here as well. Guys talk about how great they are or how they cashed in a tourny but wont join a sport shot league.
