Anybody use Ron C's magic carpet?

I was thinking about trying it out to possibly help with thumbing griping issues/ thumb sticking

At $20 for 10 pieces(each piece lasts ~3 months), seems like a pretty good deal

Yes I have tried it out works pretty good except you may
get a blister on the back side of your thumb it all depends
on which way you insert the carpet and how tight the thumb
hole is to start with.

If you insert it to get the fast release it isn't all the rough but
if you insert it for the slower release it can feel pretty rough
on your thumb and it can cause at least some redness on it if
not a blister.

I tried it last year. I will let you know when the callous goes completely away.
If you really want it to help with gripping issues, then put it towards the bottom of the hole at the front side of the thumb. This will force your thumb open. That's what I ended up doing and it helped. I just couldn't use it the correct way. It kept ripping my thumb up. I ended up using shur-cushion which helped to show me how tight my thumb could be and still get out of the ball.

I use Magic Carpet because I have a wide flat thumb and seems like noone in the area drills Oval thumbs.

I like it. Gives me a very comfortable feel(no callous with the 'fast' side up)

^ i think that might be my issue as well. The front and back of the hole is too big as i can bend my thumb in the hole but the sides are snug. Maybe i should just try tape first?

Layers of tape is definitely cheaper than either the Carpet or the cushion that Bill mentions.

For me though the white textured tape caused a callus to form and the Black 'slick' tape would occasionally catch on my thumb.

The main advantage to the carpet, and I assume the cushion, over tape is that they can compress and then regain their shape.
by most standards I have a very loose thumb but that is due to round drilled thumb and having broken the middle knuckle a few years ago
