Hello everyone, I currently have a DV8 brutal nightmare, Which i have to say i REALLY like, under the right conditions of course....I also have a older columbia 300 action packed, which comes in handy when the lanes are dry because i cant keep the brutal on the right side of the head pin on dry lanes lol. but i have to be damn near perfect in throwing it or else good luck where with the brutal i an miss my mark be couple boards off and it will come back everytime... Ive noticed some nights (brutal nightmare) my ball rolls just like i want but some shots its like it his a dry spot and MAN that thing makes a turn like ive never seen and leaves solid 10pin or worse....Not to mention they both have totally different reactions on the lanes...
A guy on my team noticed that my ball reacts to the lanes really quick sometimes...not sure what that means..But i know alot of people at my ally use polished or pearl type balls....Im wondering would this be a good change for me. like the storm byte or hammer cold blood....then the endless is sanded and ive never thrown a ball like that either but i love my brutal so i considered that too. which do u think would work best....i have medium-med fast ball speed but low to medium rev rate....thanks

My experience with my Endless Nightmare. Beast on a fresh lane, not so beast on a not so fresh lane. But a great ball nonetheless!

maybe look into a medium range ball to balance out between your brutal and your dry ball?

It sure looks like one! I seen a few videos and man does that thing move! looks like a beast...

What would you suggest in the medium ball range?

The Endless Nightmare is a hybrid reactive ball, and it's much stronger than the Brutal. I have the Endless myself, and it hooks like a monster. I would say your better bet for a stepdown not so aggressive ball would be between the Byte or Cold Blood. I've never thrown anything other than brunswick and DV8, but I know those two are pearl reactive, and wouldn't be a bad idea to add one of those two in your bag. It's your decision, so I'll leave it up to you. Just here to admonish.

I would recommend the marauder, it has given this guy most of my 700 series games!! Its a pretty good price now too on bowlingboard.com!

Go for a more medium pearl maybe? Byte will be pretty aggressive

if you wanna stick with dv8 you could look into the marauder, diva, or reckless series

I have owned Brunswick a long time ago, then tried Columbia, and now dv8...I know dv8 and Brunswick are related lol. but all have been polished. never thrown anything different so i was wondering if maybe a pearl would give me the length my brutal does once the lanes dry but still turn hard in the backend. My problem now is once it dries up it hits my spot and makes to hard of a turn. i adjust and leave 10s.

No, im open to try something new. I really do like my Brutal andd would get another DV8 ball. But im open to all and any other suggestions. I have looked at the marauder and was curious if it will hook like i want or will it just skid down the lane and never move....Ive had that problem for a while. only thing that work was to move way right and throw down almost the side of the gutter for it to come back lol. So i decided to try a heavy oil ball and been pretty successful. Guessing it has to do with my med to fast ball speed and not a killer amount of revs. idk

Thanks for all the replies BTW

+1 on the Storm IQ Tour Pearl; got one at the start of the summer season on a friend's recommendation; my favorite ball out of my entire arsenal.

Both storm balls mentioned are great med oil pieces if equipment.

Not a problem. As far as the brunswick side is concerned, you could look into the meanstreak, as well if you're still thinking about a pearl ball. Even the Brawler, as well. And yes, even the gold IQ and pearl hyroad have been two favorites in the market for Storm. Lots of choices.

I can assure you the marauder, will hook big if drilled with the pin high, and to the right of you pinky finger! remember, a lot of how a ball reacts, has to do with the bowler throwing the ball!!....... I know the marauder was, and is one hell of a ball, that in reality has given me most of my great games, but not all

The IQ pearl gave me my 300 game,,,, great movement, also! I have had some great games with the Beatdown that I won here on website

A lot depends on your style of bowling, speed, angle you play, lift on the ball,,, wrist position ect ect!!

Thanks alot for all your replies and help. Im thinking the IQ pearl might be the way to go. might be the best compliment to my dv8 brutal. I just really need another ball thats gonna be able to get it done once the lanes break down and the brutal becomes over aggressive and i leave alot of tens and have to REALLY adjust just to keep it on the right of the head pin. But i still need a some what aggressive ball (not like the brutal) thats gonna come back strong in the back and not die and not hook lol thats what my Columbia does now. So the storm byte may be a lil to much....

that ball also gave my friend his first 300 also! thats crazy. congrats on yours. im still looking for my first. a few 299's so far. cant get rid of the 10pin!
yeah my bowling speed is a lil fast, my style is something different and definitely not like anyone else, but some of the guys that been bowling ALONG TIME said that i have a style like a old pba bowler. i have to ask the name i forgot who they said lol my wrist position would make bowling coaches crazy lol its by no means straight but im accurate and get a decent amount of revs out of it.

I think you can't go wrong with the IQ Tour Pearl.

See a ton of people throwing it nowadays :)

Now would you guys say the storm byte is comparable to the storm virtual gravity pearl? Or is the Byte a stronger ball? (heavy oil) and over all

If you want to stay with DV8 I would say a Diva or Dude or a Marauder (original). Brunswick I would recomend a Melee or Ringer. Motiv a Venom Toxin or Thrash Frenzy

Definitely the Byte since it's the only one that has a fragarance.

I really like my dv8 ball and would buy another one. i have owned brunswick long ago. The motiv balls ive never heard till recently but hear there good balls.
I was just thinking that maybe another strong ball that gets down the lane a lil more would work best for my style of play. my release is pretty different then most youll see. I talked to my pro shop guy and he thinks seeing that i have right now DV8 brutal nightmare, and a columbia 300 action packed (for medium lane conditions) that a new strong and aggressive ball wouldnt be a bad addition. Then change the surface of the brutal if needed. So now im back to the Byte, not so much a endless nightmare that might be too much, everyone i know LOVES there storm VG pearl. must be a good ball seeing its still same price that it was on its release but idk.
Thats his suggestion. Im just overwhelmed of the number of balls and hard to make a decision on which to get. Speaking of motiv they have a new one. the ruel intent i think? another longer down the lane ball.....just to many choices!!

Have you considered the DV8 Misfit or the Misfit pearl? I have one and I'm a big fan of the way it reacts. It's very controllable.

Onr question is what type of ball motion are you looking for. Smooth,skid/flip. Cruel Intent should be a beast when it comes out next week. Another strong Motiv ball would be the Primal Rage #redball

So I have decided to go with the storm byte. My reason is I just need more length when the lanes break down while using my brutal nightmare.... Would you say that the byte has more length then the brutal or they about the same?

Aslan

So I have decided to go with the storm byte. My reason is it is the only ball that has a scent.

Why don't we have an "applause" emoticon?

But seriously, I like the BYTE in terms of it's bowling ball properties. I don't think you'd see much of a difference between any of those 3, but I don't think you can go wrong with the BYTE. All 3 of those choices are high in price...but if you want one of the newest releases, you're gonna have to pay more.

im not sure if this was answered in the thread, but why did you buy a heavy oil ball for when the lanes break down?

It seems like we all recommended a medium ball...

Reason being my pro shop guy said you could get the byte and then polish up the brutal and use that as a as my second ball or use as needed for what the lane condiments might be... He watched me bowl and and said the byte would be a good ball for the way I play.... I'm not to technical when it comes to it but he said the entry angle I come in at now leaves a lot on 10pins,which it does, and the byte would come at more of a angle throwing the same ball and line I do now and take care of the 10...This is all over my head I just know how to play the game. I carry a 215 average so I must be doing something right I hope... But then again he could be wrong lol

In the end... Sometimes we just want new toys...

I tell my wife "honey, it's like when red-necks see a sparkle finish on a speed boat..I just can't resist..."

Does that new primal rage sitting one my counter REALLY fill a gap in my arsenal, being that I have six freakin bowling balls already and am only bowling on two THS this year...? Absolutely not, but darn it I wanted to try a Motiv red ball... It has a sparkle finish after all.
