I found them all revolting....except page 2, 3, and 13. It should be renamed from "America's Coolest Bowling Alleys" to "25 'Bowling Alleys' Where People Can Go to Not Bowl".
The best bowling alley ever is in Reno...so they should have an article "The Only Great Bowling Alley" and just list it. Ironically you aren't allowed to bowl there unless you're in some tournament or something...which sucks...but, someday...someday...

Not real impressed. they have 1 such place in michigan that I know of and it is not very popular with bowlers. The yuppies like it because it has neo-modern deco. The food is some obscure yuppie cuisine (insert $50 for tofu nachos) and like $10 a game for bowling. They have couches, etc. instead of chairs. About 10-12 lanes. It is really pathetic. I expected to see it on this list.

We finally agree on something. And I knew it was in Novi...I figured either Novi or Royal Oak...but Royal Oak doesn't have enough room near downtown for an alley...so if it wasn't on the west coast, it had to be Novi. Yuppie mecca.

The only places I have bowled in Mi are rose bowl in Roseville the place down town Detroit that's under magic stick that's 100 years old and Bowling Iq cuz it's the greatest bowling place ever. I mean it's only 4 amf 4 Brunswick lanes but they will lay down and shot you ask for it's got the biggest pro shop ever and BYOB and food can't beat bringing in a cooler of Fat tire or dog fish head IPA and get lit and bowl. Ha ha ha

Why can't you bowl at reno bowling lanes?

I was talking about the National Bowling Stadium.
From what I "read"...you can't go there and pay to roll a few games. It can be reserved for corporate parties...for probably mucho bucks...but otherwise you have to be in some kind of big time tournament to bowl there.

It was disgusting. More than half of the alleys on that list...they were "great" because of the food they served. Here's an idea...go to a *%&^ing restaurant!!
Jsesus...bowling alleys don't need to be sports bars, arcades, pool halls, gourmet restaurants, or brewerys....they just need to be BOWLING ALLEYS!! I don't rate my restaurants on how good their bowling alleys are....idiots.
I'm turing into such a curmudgeon...that life is nearly unbearable. I swear I'm like 3 degrees away from Michael Douglas in Falling Down.

I would imagine anybody who hangs out in bowling forums isn't going to like most of these bowling centers.

You'd be surprised. For every hardcore traditionalist like me...there's a youngster that couldn't bowl at a place where you have to manually score.

I'm speaking about the bowling forums and regardless of age. If your spending time in bowling forums your probably really into bowling and would pass on the majority of the bowling centers listed in that article.

Unless...they offer me free games....I'd suffer through the annoyance to save $20 because I'm cheap like that!! :)

My friends and I did just recently go to Arsenal Lanes http://www.arsenalbowl.com/ it's a pretty cool place, smaller and kind of old school but it was a fun place to go, they had all you can bowl for two hours on Sunday night 9-12 for $8 which was a good time. I don't know if I would want to bowl leagues there because there was virtually no oil on the lanes...but for a fun place to go out and have a couple of beers on a Sunday night it was damn fun.
I did bowl terrible there though, a combination of learning to throw a new ball on a hook and no oil wasn't good for me. but I still think the experience was a good one. And it helped me to get an idea of how to throw my ball on drier lanes.
