I used to have pretty late timing when I was a full roller. Kind of like Chris Barnes's style. I would always go into my swing after my 3rd step in my 5-step approach. Seems to work Chris for a long time. But I suppose every bowler is different. Possibly I might need to check out my timing and see if I can improve it more. But I think it's a little tough for me because I plant my foot instead of slide, and my footsteps aren't as giant, and I start at the 2nd row of dots, the ones in front of the back ones that start at the very end of the approach.

The way I teach timing is two get people to move the ball at the same tempo and in line with that first right step (for right handlers, first left step for lefties) and then let their body do the rest. Helps with release, swing plane, and most important of all: balance
