So in December 2012 I bought a motiv 2 cruel. I finally got it re surfaced Sunday at a tornement. I bowl a lot different now compared to when I first got the ball, now I tuck my pinkey in And get a lot more revs/reaction than before but this hasn't given me any problems until my clean/resurface on Sunday. After about 3 games I started to get a blister on the knuckle of my pinkey and a huge blister on the pad of my index finger! Isthis due to a sloppy release? Or is it because the speed in which I release the ball with it's "new" finish? Would a glove help? Any info or tips are great

I don't know about the release. It might just be...the way it's going to be. A golf or baseball glove would help. Just cut off the finger tips and thumb. Pete Weber has used one for a long time. Ryan Shafer too I think. I did too for awhile when I bowled thumbless. I think I might try the glove again.

Having the weight on the pad of the index finger is a very good thing, right?

When they re-surfaced it what surface did they put on it? it sounds like you know the cause(fresh rough surface rubbing at release)

I think a glove(pinky and index finger coverage) would definitely eliminate the issue but who can say if it would have any other effect.

How about using some tape on your fingers? Might be a lot less intrusive than getting used to a glove.

It's a 4000grit which is the box surface. I used tape a while ago on my fingers as I used to get blisters on them but found it to be a pain as I get sweaty hands quite quick so it came off a lot

Serious question. But, how do you get blisters on your fingers? Are your balls not fit for you? Using someone else's balls? Are you trying to get too much leverage on your ball or are your inserts too small?

The inserts in my first balls were too tight and I used to loft a lot to try and get more revs. New ball fits a lot better so not had this problem.

You can either use a golf glove or pick up and Ebonite React/R glove

4000 grit is pretty darn smooth??? That should not be a problem at all!

Even a somewhat bad fit, usually the problems are always the thumb, ring finger, or Hello Mr 10 pin finger!! Very strange place to have problems! Are you of this planet??? Do you know a guy named, Bowula???

A smoother surface could increase friction because you'd have more surface contact with your skin, this could be a small part of the problem. mainly on the pinky do to the high pressure there.

As for the index finger try relaxing it slightly and just let the finger lay against the ball, I believe this would reduce some pressure on the pinky also.

A bowling glove could help also, it would protect the fingers some.

caused generally by the Finger is being used to support wrist.

I have to admit, I have never seen anyone with a problem like yours. So I can't say that in my bowing world, you not alone! (:) I know its not funny, but it does seem to be a very rare finger problem with bowlers around here! Bowl1820 had some great ideas, and as always, go talk to your local bowling pro/driller. Good luck...

When I did use a glove, I was able to get used to it almost instantly. My situation may have been different bowling thumbless. I kept the thumb in the glove which then gave me more overall grip on the ball and kept it from shifting. Once you have used a glove though, it feels funny without it. So in my book:

It's easy to get used to a golf/bowling/baseball glove but it's harder to get used to NOT using one.

Why not just try it? What is it, $20 for a golf glove? You will need to go to a sporting goods store for it though. You probably won't find a right handed glove at Walmart. Or just buy a bowling glove. Do proshops carry them or do you have to order it? You could have a golf glove TODAY.

I can't edit a post in IE or Firefox. I don't know why. Anyway the first line in my last post is supposed to start out "When I did use a glove..."
