Mike Jakubowski. Pick one awful mispronunciation of "Guerrero" and stick with it. I shudder to think that he'll be there through the end of the WSOB broadcasts. (Praying that he's not there 'til April.) Oh yeah, I'll never bother with Xtra Frame as long as he's there.

Lon McEachern wasn't available? I know people didn't appreciate Rob Stone, but he's not half as bad. Really.

What did ya think about the blue oil. I thought is was kinda cool...but I can't see how that isn't an advantage that'll increase scoring.

I couldn't stand the mispronouncing of Guerrero either. It's like he was trying to sound hispanic and failing absolutely miserably. What a Gringo!

The blue oil was cool, was nice to see how the track broke down. Aslan, it would hold no scoring advantage at all. Bowlers at that level don't need a dye in the oil to know to how to adjust. The pro's likely don't even care or notice the blue oil to try and use as an advantage.

I guess so. I just always hear people talking about "moving left to 'find oil'." Well...it's a lot easier to find if you can see it. And even if pros don't care...how long before 70% of alleys in the country have it? I imagine it looks pretty "cool" with the black lights on!!

I liked it too, and I agree I don't see how it's an advantage especially to seasoned pros - I'd think by the time they get to that level they can read a lane just as well without the dye.

I was hoping they would give more of a side by side comparison between a THS and that particular pattern, so the layperson who might be viewing and doesn't understand the difference would come away with a better appreciation of the difficulty associated with sports patterns (I can't remember if they emphasized that in the broadcast).

I know. It did sound funky. It may be the correct pronunciation. Remember the golfer Jose Maria Olazabal? It sounded like the announcers tongues' were falling out of their mouths when they said his name. Or Shana Ng at Queens this year. She let them know it's pronounced "ung."

Other than that I thought it was better than with Lon. He was a little too goofy for me.

We really like Mike J. The xtra frame telecasts are excellent. After xtra frame all the other telecasts seem weak and inferior.

I thought the blue oil was pretty cool. You could see the burn and carry down.

I think the ball reps standing right behind the players and "coaching" them the whole time is a bunch of crap though. You can't bowl ten frames without your ball rep telling you what ball to throw and how to throw it every shot? C'mon now.

On a side note, how ironic is it that Del Ballard Jr's career suffered immensly with the advent of reactive resin balls but now he's the big ball rep guy. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em I guess!

The single-game step ladder format sucks IMO. The number one seed has a big disavantage. At least make the final two out of three. Or at minimum, re-oil for each pair.

Clara came so close! I thought it was interesting in the 10th. Wes had to strike out to force Clara to strike in 10th and he threw his spare ball for the third strike!

Happy for Wes. He seems like a super nice guy. :)

There's a bunch a stuff on youtube on how to play the different animal patterns.

I like this guy's video on THS compared to US Open Pattern...

I was happy to watch it and hope they broadcast more. I like Storm's recent attempts at better marketing the PBA (amd their bowlers on it) a lot as well. If only the broadcasts had a scent to them...

Smell-o-vision!

My hubby would like aromatherapy candles that smell like lane oil. Add a cd of bowling pins getting knocked down and you have yourself a meditation kit for bowlers!

A girl on the team I bowled against last night said that it smelled like fruit punch. It was my Hy Road Pearl and another girl's Tropical Breeze together. The girl with the TB didn't even know her ball was scented. Funny.

I think the scent does fade with time.

Hyroad pearl smells like grape kool-aid, I love it.

I know. It did sound funky. [..]Other than that I thought it was better than with Lon. He was a little too goofy for me. Well, one thing I didn't like about Lon was the polite laugh, which always seemed a little forced. I can also live without "Yes. He. Can!"

This was my first time listening to Mike J, and he makes the broadcast sound like a high school game on AM radio. Can't stand that fake growly voice he does for emphasis.

I thought the blue oil was pretty cool. You could see the burn and carry down.It was really good for TV. Still, I have to think that it might make it easier for the bowlers. Part of the game is to adjust before the ball goes through the nose. In the past, making educated guesses about the invisible oil was an artful gamble. I'd like to see it continue to be that way. The best-of-both-worlds scenario is for blue oil to be the next yellow first down line, where it's only visible on the telecast.

The single-game step ladder format sucks IMO. The number one seed has a big disavantage. At least make the final two out of three. Or at minimum, re-oil for each pair.I liked how they reoiled the lanes at the QubicaAMF Championships between the semifinal and final. It seems the most fair way, but TV schedules are pretty inflexible. I don't think reoiling can be done in the span of a TV timeout, unfortunately.

I didn't notice a fakeness about his voice. I like it. Maybe it's a girl thing. :o

Yeah, then the communist worker dude came out in his overalls and boots and cleaned the approaches.

So, take out the boring Challenge thing the PBA is doing. Complete waste of time. And have a couple of cute girls come out in logoed outfits and sweep the approaches and ride the oil machine or something like that. That would do it!! :p

Personally, I'd go for a couple of hunks but I'm thinking that might go over too well with the PBA's demographic. :o

what you will find, will be disappointing! You will then know how little blue is left other then league night! LOL IF YOUR LUCKY! You will be looking for blue, and seeing the reality of NO OIL!! And .... yes.... many will be Blue, and Sad!

I was doing some practice bowling at our amf last Sunday, and it was BONE DRY,,, was told it had not been oiled since the Wednesday night league that week. I mean there were small desert like plants, starting to grow on board 1 through 10!

Thought you were a talking about the crowd. Yeah she's a cutie. She did really well at the world cup until the last round. She'd been throwing the Deranged but switched to the Wrecker for the last round. Not sure why her Ball rep didn't have her switch back.

With regards to the blue oil, I believe it was specially produced for the PBA telecast. So I doubt you will be seeing it in centres soon.

I'd be happy just seeing it on broadcasts and hoping it draws more attention to the difficulty of the sport.
