Does anyone know who the winners were of the ball of the year awards? Roto Grip won a few categories, but i am currious as to who was in the running.

Ball of the Year was the Roto-Grip Totally Defiant.

Top choice in solids was the Roto-Grip Disturbed. I think Hammer First Blood was in top 3 as well. 2 of my bowling balls.

Have the magazine at home. Can post full list this evening if nobody else does.

Christ, how many new balls come out every year? These 18 are just the TOP of the list? Please tell me that some of these balls have been around for a few years.

This is only the tip of the Iceberg. You've got what, around 12 major manufacturers? They each bring out a new high and medium performance lineup every year, so there's a lot to choose from each year :).

I do wish the lifecycle of some of these balls would be longer though. Balls from 2011-12 are already hard to come by, and 2009-10 you can almost forget about it unless you want to buy some old used ball for way more than it's worth. I recently got a 15lb Track 920A from a friend who hadn't used it much (and now plays 14lb equipment). I LOVE this ball, and would really like to get the 920T, but it's nearly impossible to find.

My wallet would be much happier if there wasn't so much new shiny "better" stuff coming all the time! I'm a sucker for new stuff

Christ, how many new balls come out every year?.

Approx. 100 +/- balls a year, But consider theres 15-20 companies. Each would only have to make 5-6 models.

I would be interested in learning how they judged the bowling balls. Did they actually review these themselves? Did they review every ball or just the ones that companies sent them for free to review.

According to joe cerar of bowlers journal magazine, when he posted on bowlingchat looking for those interested in voting.

"it's pro shop operators only. staffers are naturally too biased and consumers generally only test a very limited amount."

And somehow all of them are something new that hasn't been done before. I for one refuse to fall for it. A slew of these have to be repeats from the past.

Imagine as a ball company you come up with an excellent cover/core combination that is outstanding for its intended purpose and the bowlers who buy it, love it. Are you going to retire it? Or are you just going to retire the NAME and COLOR and just call the exact same cover/core combo by a different name?

I have an Endless Nightmare and Diva, too. Great balls. Love my Divas

I don't put too much stock in this list. I think most all pro shop operators are on a ball companies staff to some degree. my guy is with Storm. Pro shop gets bought out, now he is with ebonite and their 100 companies. Only makes sense they would put those balls before any other ones.
