Do you have music you like to listen to before bowling to get you psyched up? Here's what I played last night right before bowling. I bowled 695 but I fell in battle anyway to Mister "fouled for 270". LOL

I listen to something really chill before bowling...last thing I wanna be is pumped up, since a lot of my game is keeping my timing under control and everything loose.

Old school trip-hop or some Doves or something like that.

I haven't tried that yet, but next Monday I will give it a try during warm ups. I think a little ACDC or Metallica will be in order...

This album has been my go-to for almost anything lately..catchy stuff and helps clear my mind.

Edit: Didn't notice that was a Manowar video until I replied. They played two nights in a row a few years back here in Cleveland and I still kick myself in the *** for not going.

Nope. I listen to whatever is playing at the time over the speakers.

Sometimes…I'll either hum "Hounddog" by Elvis or I'll talk to myself like Dustin Hoffman in Rainman. I know that sounds stupid…but it's actually worked. And I have no idea how.

Music and bowling don't mix in my opinion, nor can music put me in the mood for bowling. I've never understood people who have to have it.

Lol....definitely not anything heavy or up tempo. I usually listen to this song when I'm walking from the bus/tram to the bowling alley:

While I will occasionally listen to my workout playlist on the way to the bowling, while I'm at the line I try to get a song in my head that matches my tempo. I have a tendency to speed up, especially the better I'm doing. It isn't anything I'd say you should go out an listen to, but it is Andy Cherry - Our God's Alive.

Never understood death metal, Anthrax all day long, but death metal, that is a whole different level of anger.

Honestly Anthrax would be considered light metal to me - I like them just saying I like a lot heavier bands in general - Lamb of God, Slipknot, Disturbed, etc. I am also big time into punk. Real punk not this new age labeled punk but really commercialized garbage crap.

Lol! That reminds me of a guitar teacher I had. Super mellow, really laid back guy. Great teacher too. You'd never know he was the lead singer/guitarist of The Fallen...

Every single band that is selling albums and or/performing in front of a paying audience is doing so to MAKE MONEY. 100% are attempting to appeal to a certain group of people. I wouldn't be surprised at all if there are many bands that don't actually like their own music or even their own type of music. Of course they can't come out and say that or the money stops coming in.

I have a guy on my team that insists on wearing his ipod with earbuds while he bowls. Which, who cares, to each their own...but its MECHA annoying when you're trying to talk to him and he can't hear you. Sometimes you feel like throwing something at him when it's his turn to bowl.

I'd put Disturbed a bit below Anthrax on the metal chart myself, but I used to listen to them as well. Slipknot a few songs, but not a huge fan.

I have heard of the fallen. Too cool. I was investigating a new design for a part here at work and I ran into the original guitarist for Exodus. He left the band at very early stages because he felt that weren't going anywhere, lol.

Lady Gaga is a prime example - went to Julliard but she says there is no money in good music so she produces garbage and the sheep love it. It is the thoughtless mindless lazy self-absorbed iSociety we live in.

At one time in my life - around when I was 15-17 years old I refused to listen to anything but punk music - every other type of music was dead to me. Cryptic Slaughter, Exploited, Misfits, ALD, Minor Threat, Black Flag, etc. Funny thing is I like to play like Minor Threat radio on Panadora or something similar around the little kids. I got away with it for awhile but they are getting a little older and starting to like specific music. Surprisingly though my son is really into rock and alternative music. In the car I will be driving and he out of nowhere starts singing it word for word. My older kids always hated my music and they listen to bubble gum crap - always been disappointed - but they are more followers than leaders.

Depends on your chart. I was talking about how heavy the music is. Anthrax is a bit lighter music wise. I guess you could argue either way. But really Anthrax and Slipknot are apples and oranges. Anthrax paved the way for Slipknot, yes, but Slipknot is a whole new evolved different style of music. Anthrax's early stuff was "speed metal" but overall I would classify them as metal.

It's cool to see some folks into punk on here..didn't expect that. I was just telling my girlfriend about the time Fear played on SNL, I would have loved to have seen that on TV.
I grew up more into hardcore, bands like Integrity, OLC, Confront, Blood For Blood, Chain of Strength, etc.. but the early years of American hardcore/punk are great and just can't be emulated. The Effigies, Negative Approach, Necros, Black Flag, Minor Threat, Circle Jerks...great stuff.

I saw Fear here in Detroit a few times back in the day. I believe they had a song "More Beer". Good stuff. If you like punk a new(er) band that caught my attention that I like is vietcong p*rnsurfers. Good stuff.

Yeah, More Beer..one of my favorites. There's a local metal band over here that would always cover Living in the City for my friends and I.
Never heard of Vietcong Pornsurfers I'll have to check them out. Some newer stuff I've been into is Boston Strangler and Expire..newer hardcore (none of the Emmure crap, real HC). Boston Strangler has a great, old sound.

Thanks for the tip - I will check both of them out. Always looking for new music.

Last week listened to Enter Sandman and TNT during warmups to get fired up. I guess it worked cause I shot 245 in the first game!
Spent an hour practicing today listening to Bruddah Iz, nothing like a huge Hawaiian with a ukulele to help me work on my timing and slow down a little bit.

OK I did listen to Manowar last week right before my 804. I had almost no time because I was running late but I made time to at least listen to part of "Warriors of the World". So I need a new song for next week. Let's see something about having the answer and flying high and turning it all around...I'll never give up...the parts are all in place...

I'VE GOT IT!!!
